hi, i would like some help to decide what breed of metal detector to buy. i had an old garratt years ago and never done much good with it so don't know about them now. i have been looking at the bounty hunter range and was wondering if anyone here knows about or uses them. i would appreciate any help available. cheers rob.

hi mate, agree about the hard work, but those six numbers seem harder to find than a bit of gold.

We have 2 of them. One is a White. They are very sensitive though in high mineral ground like around the goldern triangle in Vic, but great in other areas or beach etc.
We also have a Minlab, which really are the best ones to use in all areas. They are a lot more expensive though, around 5-6 k for the new model compared to 2k for the Whites.
We started with the cheaper one then got the 2nd one.
If you want to have some fun without getting too serious then a White will do the job and not cost the earth.

When we wantd to get a metal detector we went to the local club and asked their advice they don't mind talking about what they use they will also tell you the best place to buy them etc we found them to be really good. Good luck with it, it is damn hard work though Helena.
