G'day ! I have just been dragged, kickin' and screamin' into the 21 st century. So this is technology !? I have been, on and off,  travellin' and workin' around this wonderful country since 1960, and am so glad I saw it before it all became "plastic." If you are new at travellin', and a bit unsure about some of the "outback" trips, most of the once, "infamous tracks" are now well maintained, wide gravel roads, with plenty of places to feed, fuel and eat. EG. Birdsville Track. Tanami Track, Warburton Track the road to Cape York and The Gibb River Rd. (These two are good weather only) Basically all you need is food water and a small container of common sense.   

Well pipes, most of us leave home without the later. After filling up with the first two there was little room in the truck for the last. We may meet along the way. I hope so. Terry

G'day all. Having spent the best part of the last 50 years working and travelling this country, as a truckie and a coach captain I'm a bit unsure about writing advice. However, 20 of those years were in the tourist industry, mostly as a tour driver. Yes, I was paid to travel all over Oz, in conventional tour coaches, 4x4's and 6x6's. Keep this in mind. Mobs of you will no doubt be travelling North this winter. Qld, NT and WA are very popular in the Southern winter. When in the Kimberley, you may want to go and see, in a boat, or fly over, the very magic, "Horizontal Waterfall", North of Derby. When booking the flight, ask if the "falls" will be running. So many times I have seen people come back, complaining that the "big attraction" was a fizzer. When paying for the ride, don't take, "Maybe", or "It should be" or, "Usually is." for an answer. Also ask the pilot as to the tides. Ensure that there is a refund if the tide is flat. Regards
