I have a home built slide on, and a tinnie on the front of my hilux 4wd, but would like some more comfort. I thought about a bigger slide on, on to tow the tinnie, but the barge company on the island where I live changes by the meter when you tow anything.I have been looking at a van like a hiace or mazda , etc, but would loose the 4wd feature. What are your thoughts on the best way to go?Thanks
Thinking, thinking.........What about mounting the tinnie verticle behind the slide on, a bit like the trotting drivers do with the horse gigs. Have it on a swing out support.

Its a bit long at 3.1m(11ft 6 inches), but I have thought about it.I bought my self a kayak for xmas, but it can be hard work paddling against the wind, not to mention the bities we have up this way. Its nice to just jump in the tinnie and roar off.6 to one, half a dozen to the other. kayak is easy to load, tinnie is easier to fish.

Perhaps some ideas on these websites. May be able to add a boat loader on top and a fold-up trailer stored on a bracket on the rear
You can usually drive out from under a slide-on so this may give you more flexibility
just a couple of "thought bubbles"

Any type of camper van to a motor home restricts to ability to set up a base camp while still having wheels to move around, there is always a comprise in every set up.

Hi Bill, I know you can get 4wd Hi-aces. And this link will show you a Mitsubishi Delica 4wd Campervan.
The only reason my Hi-ace is not one, is that I couldn't afford to buy one Brand new at the time, and didn't want to wait 'til a used one came on the market.
Cheers, Sheba.

Hi Bill...How about a Porta boat? You could strap it to the side or top of just about any rig.
Portaboats are way too expensive for what you get. I have tried one , but wasn,t convinced. Its nice to have solid tinny. I , also, owned an inflatable, but being in one eyeballing a croc put me off a bit. Thanks for you help.

perhaps you could get a caravan and store it in Australia....that's that really big island just west of Maggy!

Yes .Thought of that to, but I,d have to immagrate to Australia!Maggy Island life is a bit like rich chocalate- you can only take so much. I am off to the deep south as soon as I fix my charter boat problems(its for sale), and the roads open. I am shocked by the carnage in Toowoomba, and the Lockyer valley. I am thinking seriously of going down and lending a hand.Did you see the family in the car?We have had lots of rain here, but no real damage.I would dearly like to retire, but can,t afford it, so I do short trips when I can.

What about one of those flat fronted boats? That should make it shorter, to sit on the back
