How to Kill Mosquitos - NOT A JOKEI can't wait to try this in the summer! I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year I filled? a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked as well.. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it..Pass it on. OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house. Now these are Good Mosquitos!!!

Listerine was mentioned on a thread here a while ago so I bought some, about 8.00 for a small bottle. Have been putting it around my ankles and legs every morning before i go out. So far so goo.
Went out the back last night about 8pm to water some plants. Sprayed with bushmans my arms and neck area. Now have 3 bites on my shoulders, should have used Listerine.

Thank you!
I'm covered in bites of all sorts, will get some listerine today, and hope it keeps those little midges away too. Plus early March flies!

Not certain about this but I have heard that the original (Brown) Listerine seems to work the best. Just something someone mentioned in general conversation at happy hour.

Yes JRH, it has to be the original brown one as mentioned in a thread here a while ago. I got mine from Safeway/Woolworths.

A friend I sent that e-mail to last night, told me that when he was in Mildura visiting friends a few weeks ago, they were using it successfully to repel both Flys and Mozzies.

I don't mind the smell at all.
Far better than the dettol/baby oil mix which gets up your nose and sticks to everything.

Hi all, have the grandkids coming to Cairns for a few weeks so with the mozzies up here we want something that is going to work. Do you water it down or use it full strength? Cheers Pauline

Full strength. I haven't put mine in a spray bottle yet so just fill my hands up and rub it on from feet to knees then length of arms. Quite pleasant really.

Found about the Listerine trick last year - works well for me and my friends - I normally am not bothered by mossies, but near the Murray I thought better safe than sorry - sprayed it on my chair and around the general area - not on myself - have sensitive skin which reacts badly to some products. Romy don't know about midges - let us know how it goes.

Certainly will, Jules. The little buggers (midges) pack a mean bite!
