Here are a couple of good links for WA Reptiles, especially in light of a recent WA death due to snakebite, look in the side menu under "Elapids" for the venomous ones, see;
The recent death in WA is shown as the last entry in the Snake Bite Deaths section on this link.

I think because the sites also have a commercial section they may not be shown here, I got a message when I posted the links that they needed approval from the forum Admin (Cindy).
Because they are so important to Grey Nomad for identification and safety during travel I am hoping Cindy will approve them for display on this post,
Never had this happen to me before so hope it gets approved by the umpire, lol !

Here is a copied article from The Australian Newspaper on the recent death in WA:
A 43-YEAR-OLD man has died less than two hours after being bitten on the toe by a snake while sitting at his home computer. Police believe it was a 30cm juvenile Tiger snake, which would be the first death of its kind in Western Australia since 1998.
Michael Thorpe was at home in Gingin, 80km north of Perth, with his six-year-old daughter on Friday night when he was bitten at about 9pm. Police said he wrapped a towel around his foot and leg and called a friend, who arrived within minutes. The friend found the snake and killed it, but Mr Thorpe's toe had by then become swollen and blue and he started having difficulty breathing.
An ambulance was called but police said by the time it had finished the 35-minute drive to Joondalup Health Campus Mr Thorpe was unconscious. He was declared dead at 10.52pm.
Gingin Police Sergeant Scott Gillis warned that any delay in calling an ambulance was dangerous. "That allowed the venom to spread more, that he didn't seek medical attention straight away." Geoff Isbister, a toxicologist and head of the Australian Snakebite Project at the Menzies School of Health Research, said the most important thing to do after a snakebite was to immediately administer CPR. "In terms of preventing deaths in Australia, a lot have occurred because people have collapsed and not received CPR," he said. But when they do, they have often survived."

Initally you could not see the links and post content as they had to be approved by Admin first, it looks like that has been done (thanks Cindy) and is now visible.
Very important the first aid bit, everyone should carry a few bandages in their car or van. I believe panty hose is also good to use as bandages.......I guess that leaves us blokes out, lol !

Reminds me of the time i once asked a lady what she did when she wore her panty hose out......She replied that she wore them back home again.

On a lighter side, this is an old thread from Ibbo about snakes, I remember one too from Dave06 talking about a snake going between his legs while he was sitting at his computer, have a look at this GN link from 2009;

G'day Vee double u,(or Vic to we sandgropers)according to ch9 it was a western brown which is more deadly than a tiger snake because their fangs are more efficient.

Hi All,
Just a quick note to let you know that the first post could not initially be read because it had been flagged as possible spam by automatic software on the forum and needed manual admin approval.Once I had a look and approved it, the post appeared. For once, a logical explanation of mysterious computer behaviour!
