Scary - there is no way I would even consider venturing across with water that deep, up there.

Put some people behind the wheel of a 4x4 and they think they can do anything

We have been across Cahills Crossing a number of times and there is always someone doing something silly when we have. Then, as you say, someone else has to risk their lives to save them. That water is infested with big salties.

Not only drivers, we saw a woman start to walk the Ianhoe Crossing [ knee deep ]with her little dog after her partner told he would pick her up on the other side. You could see the crocks lying on the rocks on the other side & she only turned back when the dog got washed off & it had to swim back. I think there was a message in there that she failed to see. We were close enough to here him make the suggestion, along with a few other people as well.
We used to say there was one born every day, now there is a population explosion of them.

There,s a sign says "dodn,t cross at high tide , and I suppose he didn,t see the beware croc sign , either. Good barras from the causeway, but keep your eyes peeled as a local(aboriginal) was taken the week before I arrived, and I went down with a spotlightjust atfer dusk and counted14 pairs of eyes!Saw one during the day that had to be 4m plus, too many to put my 10ft dinghy in.Obirri rock paintings are great.
