Check out Snopes as well. Just google "snopes" and you can check out potential scam sites very quickly.
We have to be very careful about who we trust with out personal information.

There are also telephone calls suggesting there's something wrong with your pc and they
need your info to correct it.
I got one and the caller had an Indian accent I just told him where to go and hung up.

As Christine has pointed out, "Snopes" http://www.snopes.com/, whilst more biased to Urban Myths rather than scams, is well worth while bookmarking/adding to favorites, particularly in regard to many emails that "do the rounds".
While some "urban myths" are just jokes or funny little stories dressed up as "fact", others are designed (by warped and sick minds) to alarm and spread false and sometimes malicious information.
Welcome to the forum NandK, unfortunately some people through general naivity and uncertainty about computers don't have the good sense to do what you did.

Hi everyone, we cant let our guard down on these issues and I would like to add a simple "site check" we can all do that was published by the Malaysian govt to its citizens when online. Simply Right click on your screen and scroll to properties and you will see if the site you are on is what you thought it to be. Cheers Ozi2
