Well, who seen the news tonight? They showed Karen, the voice behind the prompts on the Garmin GPS. & that is her name, aussie as well.

         6.00pm, I think we watched the NBN, it was the last storey on how the recording was done.

 

Saw a programme of the same thing a few months ago, but can't remember whether it was Channel 2 or SBS.

I saw it on ABC, can't recall if it was News or 7.30 Report. Could have been on NBN or elsewhere too, don't know. NBN is the "call-sign" of the Nine affiliate serving Newcastle, Nthn NSW, Gold Coast. My Garmin has some options to select a voice under the Tools, Settings, Language menu and lists "Karen". Her voice is very clear and easy to understand, she's also not a bad looking sort!

Karen the voice is no big news. She was heavily featured on the ABC last year. The news bit is that she has returned to Oz and singing in clubs.

It probably is news to those who didn't see the program or know of Karen though wouldn't you say?

I use Vicki on the tom tom, as i have a sister named Vicki.. but i have used Karen, i did try out for a compation tom tom had going , to record your voice and it be the new voice or something like that, guess i didnt win..

My son was using Sean Connery, but his accent was a bit confusing.

But I did get a giggle out of the 'shaken not stirred' when we reached our destination.

We have the 'Dave06' favourite on ours. "Naggin' Nancy" I think her name is
