Bugger! After the van rego & insurance this month I just checked & found out I need new tyres for the Landcruiser to pass rego early next year. Pulling the caravan really wears them down fast.
Any suggestions for the cheapest new ones available to get or even 2nd hand ones with lots of tread in the Margaret River area would be helpful.

I run micky thompson AT on my disco and get a really good run out of them, just sold a set that I run for 12 months and over 40000km with well over half the tread left on them. I do rotate ever 10000km cheers blaze

My view is that cheap tyres are a false economy, also a safety issue.

Get good quality tyres as they are your only lifeline to the ground.
I usually get around 50 to 60 k from my Patrol tyres towing just under 2 ton and fully loaded itself.
I usually have BF Goodrich however now have  Dick Sepec FCIIs and they have just cracked the 10k mark and the pips have just worn off.
Yes these tyres are HD off road tyres but I do go off road.

Sometimes the dealers have almost new tyres on hand because someone wanted bigger, better tyres than the vehicle was delivered with. I've had a great run out of my Goodrich All-Terrains. I was lucky to buy them on special in Broome, and I know they're costly, but I reckon I've go my $'s worth. Like Jim says, sometimes "cheap" can be false economy in the long run. Some 4WD mechanical bits don't like cheaper tyres either. Maybe that's why you're chewing them up.

Several years ago I sought to get some BFG (Goodrich) tyres for the Pajero but they were unavailable at the time and I had to act quickly as I was heading out to go up the Cape so I purchased Cooper STs instead. I am aware that Cooper have occasionally received some "bad press" but I have had a good run of mine. I did have a warranty claim over a relatively minor issue and had no arguments whatever over it, in fact Cooper volunteered to replace every tyre (6 in total) I had purchased even though only two tyres were affected.

I run Michelin Syncrone on the 100 series 95,000 and still a lot of tread. You get what you pay for, these are good value. Also check the age of the tyre but if they are over 6 years old but still have good tread they will not be safe.

was called last week....from my tyre dealer.......to check...the distance I've travelled on my Coopers ATR.........that 10,000 klm went fast........cost me $48 for a wheel alignment.after they rotated the tyres....free

I live in a country town and my local beurepairs rotate mine tyres every 10000km for nil dollars, Have shop ther3e for 35 years though and they get all my tyre and battery business

Just sorta realised that when I go on the road in january I will need to pay for all these things I now get because of being good regular customer at my local stores

Thank you people for your advice but after seeing the prices of the suggested  Bridgestone, Michelin etc & considering how nuch money I have had to fork out for other things lately I think I may have to go for a cheaper brand unluckly so I am checking reviews & opinions on ones costing around $200 each.

As I don't do much major 4WDing, I am, so far, leaning towards the Maxxis 771 as it seems to have good reviews & opinion on forums seem positive.
