If you own a ford ranger the timing belt is scheduled for replacement at 120,000kls. There has been three that have had the belts break within 500kl of this service. I would therefor suggest you have the belt replaced before the 120,000kl service as it can be very expensive if this happens. The Mazda B250 is possibily the same as some fords & mazda are the same.

If the bt50 is like the navara & hilux then no wonder , first gear is to tall for towing, hence clutch burnout, I know the navara has a reverse gear that is half a gear up on first gear when first & reverse have been the same ratio for years. So when you are trying to reverse the caravan into location you are using heaps of clutch to do so. Manufactures have lost the plot on what these vehicles are required to do, not all just go to the corner shop for a paper on sunday morning.
v8 landcruiser doesnt miss out either, alternator mounted at sump level.cops all the dust, mud & water off the road,without going 4wding. The amount of cruisers that toyota has put into rural & mining,just leaves you lost for words.

Hi, you will also find there is a recall on the Ford Rangers at the moment for replacement of the bonnet catch.

And they still get the simple, basic things wrong like a bonnet catch?
****ty metal or bad design? Or both?
At this stage I'll just stick to my faithful 80 Series, although I love the new V8, turbo 4.5 diesel, but it's just a dream at this stage.

CG, dont get too excited about the V8, very over rated, thirsty, alternator & turbo all down in the dust dirt & water, bad design.stay with the 80;
