In My Humble Opinion

Ok, after I asked the above question I logged out and adjourned to another part of my humble abode (a small room) to contemplate the meaning of life and other philosophical conundrums (conundra???). Whilst there I worked it out, oops, I think I should rephrase that, I worked out what it stood for. IMHO it really was a dumb question!
PS: Thanks, Elaine

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting very tired of these acronyms.
"WTF" has happened to our language?
My teacher went to great lengths to teach me English, written and spoken. We even did oral language where we actually learned to pronounce the words correctly.
This morning I saw an ad on TV for "Poolwerx". "WTF"?
(And I don't mean Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.)
Kids mumble in some inaudible language, they text in acronyms and abbreviations.
For example "peeps" (people).
No wonder the younger generation can't spell or speak the language as it was meant to be written and spoken.
I can accept modernising, but please stay within the language. Who let the Americans loose on English, although some of their spelling makes more sense than our own, just ask "spell check". It doesn't make it right.
I've always been very fussy about expressing myself in writing, probably because I was always told to be quiet as a child, and not thought important enough to have a say to contribute to a relationship I was in. So I wrote it down.
Then I became a journalist and now a writer. It's still all about the language.

Have to agree with you Cruisin Granny. Even in texts these days I write out the message in full. It takes longer to work out all their shortcuts than to just read the written work.
M8, (Mate) Hate that one.

Just goes to prove we aren't teenyboppers. And we have a decent grasp on the English language. It will win out every time. IMHO

Jimricho, I am glad you posted this first, I was going to last night.... and now, I can't believe how much traffic it has gained tonight! and despite working for a company who thrives on acronyms, can't think of a suitable sign off.

Why do we need a website to interpret?
I've got to the point where I believe it's disrespectful to not speak as clearly as possible, so the person you're speaking to, can understand you.
It's rude to not make every effort to be understood, the first time.
Kids mumble all the time. I have a weekly chat at Hungry Jacks drive through when they squeal at me through the microphone. I can't understand a word. I just hear a voice.
They speak too fast and don't move their lips enough to let the words out.
There I go again - my news reader pronunciation.
It really irks me when I can't understand the person who is speaking to me, but they look at me like I'm from another planet when I say, "I beg your pardon. I can't understand you."
There's nothing wrong with my hearing. My ears work well, but their lips don't.
They'd make great ventriloquists. Except I think someone else has put their hand up the young one's backs. It's called Peer Pressure.
PS: Thanks, Elaine
