Hi Milo
At the end of the month, both the second last and last weekend there is a big dog show at Goulburn. If you go up there you will see just about every breed of dog in the country, up close and personal. You can also talk to the owners and ask questions about their breed. I will be there as a helper so maybe you could come say 'hello'.
Cheers
Allara

Hello Milo,
The shows are on Sat 23 Oct, Sun 24 Oct, Mon 25 Oct and on Fri 29 Oct, Sat 30 Oct, Sun 31 Oct. They are all at the Goulburn Showgrounds in Braidwood Road.
I am not showing my dogs there as I will be a 'helper' on the show days. I may take them down, for a day out. I look just like my avatar photo and if you ask for 'Mervena' at the information desk they should be able to point you in my direction.
They don't have a website for the shows. You will enjoy the day if you love dogs and don't forget to bring a chair.
Cheers
Allara

Hi Milo
Yes the dates are set. There is no entry fee for people to come and see the dogs, they are all show dogs and if you wanted to buy any you would have to talk to the breeders. They don't have dogs for sale at these shows so you won't have to worry about taking one home.
Cheers

As well as the normal vaccinations, make sure they have the heart worm vacc. Not all states require it but it is necessary in Qld Ive been told.

Hi nineteenfiftythree,
I too have a chihuahua. One of the things I was warned about by my sister was Ticks. (She has Jack Russells and lives just out of Brisbane. She said you must keep checking them twice a day. a lot of dogs have died there. Particularly bad at the moment.

I would certainly take my canine first aid kit, anti tick spot on and a pencil tourch, magnifying glasses and tweezers. You would be surprised where they can get grass seeds as well as ticks.!!
Another suggestion is a muzzle, I know your dog doesn't bite, but you may be somewhere there is stuff around that you don't want him/her to eat and a muzzle will provide protection for your dog.
Also, run it by your vet, they may have other suggestions for you.
Cheers

Hi Allara, We are camped on the Greens lake just outside Elomre Victoria and I'm so disappionted in dog owners as there dogs are roaming around everywhere from rockwheelers to whippets and there owners couldn't careless. This is one place where dogs need a Muzzles with so many small kids around. I "ve also notice lot's of owners walking there dogs without little bags and at no stage do there stop and pick-up dogs droping. "Gee" it annoys me heaps. Question: How do we train the guys ??????? Cheers Mick

Hey Mick
I get so angry at irresponsible dog owners that leave their dogs to roam around and particularly angry with those that don't pick up the droppings.
Also get concerned with some people that chuck their chop bones around near BBQ's, thats why I suggest a muzzle for your own dog to protect it from eating cooked bones.
Gives responsible dog owners a bad name. If dogs and owners are not doing the right thing, they should be dobbed in. IMHO
Cheers Allara
