and  how much variation in $$$ is there for rego/third party ins --- is getting quite hefty in NSW

I know there is no annual road worthy test in Vic, Only when vehicles change hands. Rego cheap in Vic if you have a pension which covers third party etc. My paperwork is in the car but think it is around 250.00 for my little car.

why don't you google car rego for each state and the relevant sites might come up to answer your question.

WA has no regular vehicle inspections. Statistically no greater figures on mechanically induced road incidents either.
