Hi All, My friend has a 10 y.old "roadstar" van which has 5 sided - hexagonal - internal wheel nuts/studs, that is the best way I can describe them. He has lost the tool to loosen them and would like to know if anyone knows where he can buy one. Cheers Doug

Dkay, I suspect that that is not right. I think he means there are 5 studs per wheel.
All wheel nuts have 8 sides as far as I have seen, except the security ones used on mags. that need a special key.
A standard wheel brace from any auto shop will probably have one end that fits. Alternatively, check with a socket set to get the right size first.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter, I may not have described them adequately. Each individual stud (5 studs or wheel nuts / per wheel) has a hex / 5 sided internal setup - much the same as an alen bolt and would require something like an alan key to loosen them. Please see attached images of similar bolts. Hope this is a little better explaination
"All wheel nuts have 8 sides as far as I have seen". Sorry you're wrong. Hope is was just a typo. The Studs have 6 Sides just like a nut or bolt. that's why they're called Hexagon. Cheers, ozjohn

Hi Ozjohn, I'll get my friend to email me a photo of the wheel studs and then I will post it. Did you look at the attached images - that is similar to what they look like.

You can buy a hex drive that fit a 1/2 socket bar from any competent tool shop, used all the time in the mechanical game. cheers blaze

Hi Doug
sounds the same as my Coromal set up. Requires a 5 sided key/pentagon insert socket that fits into the wheel brace.
Should be able to get them from a coromal dealer or i think the older jaycos used them as well.
Was told that you can get them from people like Bob Janes, but don't know if that is right.

These nuts with a pentagonal slot were supplied on chassis where the wheels were supplied by Dunlop. They were around at the end of the last century and I don't know for how long in this century. My 96 model Spaceland had them. My next door neighbour got a tool for wheel nuts with a hexagonal slot recently from Bob Jane's local outlet. I suggest you enquire at your local Bob Jane outlet.
