Hi Lilly, the previous topic you refer to was about Corelle, not melamine. Corelle is more like crockery, but will not break or shatter. melamine is more plastic like. Ma's issue was that here corelle mugs were "borrowed" and not returned, and corelle now no longer make mugs in corelle.

do they have the mugs? we were told at the corelle shop in brisbane that they no longer make the mugs. the mugs that come with the corelle dinner set are not actually corelle, but proceline - which is not much use to campers/caravanners

you will find that while the mugs are corelle brand, are not corelle product, they are made of porceline, (china). We were told this by the corelle shop when we bought ours few months back.

Yes they will be turning up in the op shops sooner rather than later.
A good soak in some bleach and they'll be like new again !

Or even better, nappy wash, whose active ingredient - sodium perchlorate - does not eat into the surface.

I have found weak bleach quite ok to use on china/porcelain cups but from experience can confirm that it does etch plastic/melamine ones.
