I know he's not human but he's a well travelld friend
and I took him to the vets today for his usual check up,
they think he may have some form of throat cancer or something,
but there not sure yet, dont know if he needs to be ,you know..yet
ive had him for 8 years , he was 4 or 5 when i got him,
we've had our ups n downs and close calls before , sometimes I wish i could go
to the vets ,they do such a wonderfull job...
 I probably wont know the results for a couple of days, regardless,
 i just hope he comes home tonite...

I often think that "not being human" is an advantage! Best wishes for Ben, thinking of you.

I know it's a terrible time for you but also know you will do whatever is the right thing for your friend.

Know what you're going through Milo. Our Jack, a german shepherd, in now nearly 15, a ripe old age for the breed. We've had him from 3 weeks old and had to feed him with a syringe and lactose milk as his mother was unable. The poor old bugger is now on his last legs but Pat still refuses to let go. Its going to break her heart when the time comes. Hope everything goes well with you and

well, ben the dog is backhome but we wont know the results of his tests for a week or so, its going to be a long week

Make this week a great one Milo. [I do know you were going to anyway]. I had to make that awful decision a couple of years ago with one of mine. Joey was a "Blue" Chihuahua, only 12 years old. [Not old for this breed.] He got Cancer, and I'm ashamed to say I think I held on to him just a bit too long. I just couldn't let him go. Thinking of you both mate, Cheers, Sheba.

Gidday Milo,and Ben, you are right dogs are not human,they are far to loyal and faithful and ask for very little, and give back an awful lot !!
many on this forum, have been in your current position, more than once, so do what you have to do to maintain Bens quality of life, however sad as it may be, do the right thing by Ben, Vets are good but expensive, and in the past i have spent lots and lots of money, to buy my beloved pet some extra time, but in retrospect i did it for me, not him,

if i ever get to those pearly gates and meet the big boy, we are going to have a blue, as he made us last 70-80 years, but our doggies only last 10-15 years, so we have to go through the pain, of losing them many times [ not fair]

anyway the tests are not back yet, so FINGERS CROSSED XXX Good Luck.  dazren

Know exactly how you will be feeling. I lost my little Mindy last year at the age of 17 years. Such a hard time to go through. I will never replace her. I may get another dog, thinking about it but will still never replace Mindy. She was my mate.

Milo, we are thinking of you, dont know how we would cope when time comes for our Brodie.  Not human?  You should hear the way Brodie talks to us!!!

Milo, It breaks the heart. To love someone, yes I said, someone...and then know their wellbeing is in your hands is so hard. As the others have said...we know your pain!! My "Mac"...wonderful faithful big rottie...knew me, watched over me, and relied on me to do the "hard yards" for him. I did. That decision had to be mine. Cancer was his problem too. That was 22 years ago. To this day, I love him, remember him and smile when I think of him. He came into my life when he was 4 years old too. Just love Ben, and believe the decision you may have to make will be the right one for your mate. Thinking of you Dellie

he's so restless tonite, i hope he does sleep..
almost $1000 on him today, but i dont care, id sell my car if i had to..
I just sang to him alittle while ago,which i do alot for him ,
my head is realing at the moment,myheart is all over the place..
Ive done alot for him,took him after his orginal owners didnt want him
free to good home.. yeah right,i almost lost him when i first got him due to
some luekemia thing for dogs, that was 8 years ago,

some times he winges and i dont know how to read it, some times im right and sometimes im wrong, i wish he could talk like they do in the movies..


its going to be a long week


thankfully he settled down some time after midnight, what a night..
but at least hes home..

aww im so sad to hear that what a gorgeous looking pet he is i hope it all works out for you both hes so wonderful looking breaks my heart fingers crossed for you milo ill send some prayers up to my angels that are looking down on us

Milo, what you are going through is unbearable. We lost our "man" last year to a cancerous growth on his kidneys. He had been suffering for so l;ong. We had no idea, the vet had no idea but we knew something was wrong. June 2009 is a stand out for that reason, Rusty went to the big kennel in the where ever. We and the Grand kids miss him greatly but now we can tell happy stories of all the good times Rusty gave us. Hang in there mate, he's counting on you to be there for him and we know you will be.
