just wondering what do you guys do with your dogs, how often do you wash them, do you visit dog washers etc?
also any one know if there is like a deoderent spray or something for dogs? ie if your dog gets a bit smelly while travelling but dont get to wash him?

Hi Milo, we just send out dog (long haired border collie) for a swim in the creek or river or surf, what ever is handy, but yes, there is a deodorant spray you can buy, check out awy good pet shop.
Your Avitar looks like short hair border collie, so should not be as hard to manage as long hair.

We obtained from our local Pet Shop a product put out by Pets Plus. It is called "Lustre Aid Cologne" a coat conditioner, cologne and deodorant spray. It supposedly contains absorbable Lanolin to give lustre to the coat and help maintain a tangle free coat.
Yes that is a summary from the label and no we don't have shares in the company, LOL.
It is a greaseless spray that gives a pleasant scent that last for quite awhile so we find that bathing is not really required that often, even at home.
As we tend to bush camp we brush our little fella (a 14mth old Pug called Spike) at least daily whilst away, looking for Ticks at the same time, compared to a couple of times a week at home.
Whilst away he is never off lead, or out of our sight, so he never gets the chance to "roll" in anything that may require him to have an immediate bath. We carry a small tub, which we use for our recirculating external 12v turbo Shower, and that can doubled up as a bath for him.
At home Spike has free run of the backyard and walked 2-3 km per day plus obedience work. Whilst away as he is "tethered" he usually has two similar walks a day plus shorter "toilet" walks first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Not a good idea to wash dogs frequently as it tends to wash away the oils in a dogs coat.I have a Staffie and find that when he does need a bit of a spruce up if I use Bicarb of soda dry,brush it in to his coat,leave it for about 15 mins and then brush him again.He is clean and has no doggy pong.
