Not sure if Darling Run is currently open, but if it is, via St George, Nindigully (good free camp by river - 723 in CAMPS) cross over into NSW at Mungindi, dirt road to Collarenabri, Walgett,Brewarrina, Bourke, the Darling Run to Wilcannia and back onto highway to Broken Hill.
Check with NRMA or http://www.centraldarling.nsw.gov.au/roads/1091.html for current road conditions.
Good free or cheap camp outside of Tilpa - Old Buckanbe Station - No 928 in CAMPS book. Supposed to be honestybox, but we could not find it.....
We did this from Brisbane to Broken Hill few summers back, no water in Darling, very interesting drive, beautiful scenery - if you like DRY.
lots of water in the dariling now .would check roads before leaving main highways had lots of rain throught there and i think lot of the river are still up leaing some minor road closed
