How do you stop all your plates and cups rockin' and rollin' and havin' a crackin' time?

We put the non slip stuff between the plates and around the mugs etc. Have been down some pretty rough and corrugated roads in Nat. Parks and free camping, that have bounced the camp chairs of the beds, but have never had a broken or dislodged piece of crockery. (yet) Johnw

Here, here - might have had a couple shift a fraction, but no breakages with using the coaster size pieces of non-slip mat between the plates etc.

Same here and you can get a role of it and cut it to size from any of those $2 type shops.

Quality Melamine Crockery is the way to go.
Looks good, light weight. unbreakable.

I have never broken any either but have gone to the melamine for weight. BUT I do have to get a nice wine glass. Melamine just doesn't cut it.

My approach is to use Corelle crockery held vertically in modified plate racks.  Glasses & cups are held in those plastic coated wire frames sold at most caravanning stores.

All shelves are covered in that non slip plastic stuff that you get for around $2 a roll at the cheap shops.  The electric jug & toaster never move .. but I don't do much off road.

No breakages in over 12 yrs & 180000km.

I recently had the opportunity to "spy" into Andrea's drawers in her 5th wheel. She has pieced of foam cut out to shape of all her cups/glasses. Corelle plates also travel in drawers.

Groceries and other loose stuff can be stored in those light plastic baskets from the $2 shop... stops things falling over and spilling, handy to stand the electric kettle in too. With that non-slip mat between everything of course. And we never used any glassware while travelling in the camper-trailer. Wine "glasses' are pewter, everything else plastic, melamine, stainless steel, or corelle.

Hi, Bushbaby - You can still have your wine glasses - have a look at these holders from Northcoach: http://www.northcoach.com.au/products/Wine-Glass-Holder.html Our wine glasses have been travelling in those holders for 18 months without any problems. There's no way they can touch each other, and they're always at hand rather than being tucked away in bubble wrap or the like! And as Lorraine said, cups and glasses sit very snugly in their cut-outs in a piece of foam (a $1 offcut from Clarks). Coffee really does taste better from china, and we have a couple of light-weight cups as well as some small glasses. The rest (Corelle) also sits in a drawer - easier to get at than a cupboard.

PS - Northcoach says weight of 1 kg; they're actually less than 100 g. Andrea

Hey there BushbabyandGumnut For the glassware just go to one of the electrical stores (Hardly Normal/Ripoffvision or similar) and grab the bubble wrap and thin styrene wrap off the plasma and LCD telly's out of their bins, wrap the goods in the bubblewrap etc and lay flat in a rollaway box from the $2 shop....Bubblewrap is usually available from AustPost outlets as well. We use 2 crockery & 2 non-breakable plates of all sizes needed, then we can keep the breakable ones apart by using the unbreakable ones to seperate the crockery ones  that way you can have the luxury of nice plates when you want, we do the same with glasses & cups. Nothing broken after 10 months of travel - touch wood.
