Just got to share our good news with you - when we arrived in Townsville lst Thursday to visit our daughter and son-in-law, they came over to the caravan park (Coral Coast Top Tourist very very good) for a BBQ tea and gave us our belated birthday presents, along with a very special one - we are to be grandparents for the first time next March!!!! I know a lot of you are already grandparents and delight in your grandchildren and 'gear' your travels around them, but for us, we are just starting that part of our journeys - blimey what a year we have ahead of us! Peter (hopefully) retiring at the end of the year, us going on the road full time AND becoming grandparents - does it get any better than this????
Leaving Townsville tomorrow to head out to Mt Isa - can't rush these things, only going as far as Charters Towers first day!

Congratulations!Grandkids are wonderful people...and you can give them back (lol).I have not been able to see mine as much as I would like in recent times, but spent about 6 weeks getting to know them again in May/June,and will be heading back to to Melbourne at the end of the year to spend my first Xmas with them in years.A full time nomad since May,currently en route to Darwin to spend time with my son.Leave Katherine tomorrow for the last leg. Enjoy your travels. David

Lucky lot ! My aging daughter has no interest in in even getting out of bed, except on Centrelink pay days...
What a wasted life

I love catching up with my grandies, well, the ones I have access to.
Family disputes between my daughter and her past life have put my grand daughters our of my reach.
But the 2 boys are growing up so fast. This year I've seen them twice in 6 months, so that was a bonus.
Until then it was every second Christmas.
I love my tribe dearly, but I have this urge to travel and live this nomadic life, so we all compromise I guess.
I make the most of every opportunity.

Congratulations Pejay!!!!!!! The joy ahead for you....only another grandparent can feel. Its a wonderful time ahead for you. I remember sooooooooo wanting to be a "Nonny"and telling my daughter and son-in-law, "You two supply the baby..and we'll supply the nursery". Eventually..they did!! We now have 3 beautiful grandsons. We believe we are lucky, as we get to be with them lots. Enjoy every minute of it. Cheers Dellie.

Congratulations guys that is lovely and being a grandie is the best.
We returned yesterday after a few months away and my little three year old burst into the house, ran flat out up the hall into my arms yelling "Nanny, nanny, I found you!!"
Apparently she had been missing me heaps and looking for me all the time when my daughter came over to tend to the house.
