A friend of mine who is actually a Grey Nomad member but doesn't come in much because she is busy travelling up north, has rung me with a great place to stay. She has just passed through 1770 and Agnes Waters. She said there is a great place to stay at Agnes Waters, Only 5.50 a night. Its along the river bank from what I could make out. I've never been there so don't know the area, she thought I might be interested as I'm hoping to have my camper in the next month or so and heading up that way.
For all looking for cheap camping she said it was a really lovely place to stay. Shes now moved on to Bundaberg where she is staying for the next couple of weeks.

Can you get her to give some more details? I travel down that way every year, so it might be a nice place to stay.My next trip is off to Boraloola, and then to King ash bay fishing camp, then off to Limmen bay camp, Roper bar, Mataranka, etc.The road to Bora is all bitumen, but after that its dirt to bad dirt towards Limmen bight.I have hilux diesel 4x4 with a slide on, so no real problem. Please get some more info about Agnes waters. Thanks, Bill

I will have to wait for her to ring again. Agnes Waters can't be that big. She rang to say she thought it would be a good place for me to stay when I get up there because of the price. It was on the rivers edge somewhere.
Will get more details next time she rings.

Are you sure she gave you the right name ? Don't remember a river near there. The closest I can think of is the Kolan, closer to Bundaberg. [I used to live at Baffle Creek. Maybe she means there. It's between Agnes and Bundy.]

Ok, Got all the info for you.
Its a Bush camp called Workmans Beach Camping Area, and its about 1 km south of Agnes Waters via Springs Road. Its on the Waterfront.
The signs say Not suitable for caravans but there were some parked in there. Also says No dogs but there were a few there all the same.
Max stay is 22 days.
Has low trees driving in but still able to drive a campervan in there.
Hope that info helps you all and intend going there myself when I can get up that way.

last time I was up that way (about 3 years ago) there was an old school bus converted to a mobile home park there. The interesting thing was the advertising on the side of the bus and a small a frame side on the side of the track indicating you could get a massage for $50 for 1/2 hour, nice looking massuse sitting outside the bus too cheers blaze
