Easiest to erect and take down IMHO is the Cub Camper. Different sizes, but all are Wind-up,and Wind-down. I got one originally, as I have a breathing problem, and could set it up no problem.
Have since sold it and got a Campervan, so I only have one lot of Rego, Tyres, and Insurance.

I'm heading out this week to see a 2001 Jayco Dove and a '99 Avan has anyone had any experience with either of these?

Thanks for that Sheba but the cub seems to be more of a tent I think thats a bit too scary for me   I need something that I can lock myself into at night while sleeping :)

we own all subarus gilly we own a forester at moment and are towing a jayco owl, one thing to be sure of is the tow weight, we have a van like the dove but only one bed folds out took us ages to find it on ebay? weight is 400 with a weight towing of 844 loaded it tows like a dream i will tell you depending on what sort of power you have in your subaru? that the au subaru members online will say dont get anything heavier than 450 thats about the limit ? i recently put a post up our latest addition if you find it on here its still on front page and has a pic of our latest camper its a doozy has fridge, stove and sink ,the sink and stove fold over to pack it up onto floor ,personaly i reckon the dove is rather big to tow ? for a subaru we towed one with a nissan patrol no worries but i wouldnt tow one with a smaller car . hows about a finch ,im not sure if they are 750 k though ? have to look and make sure you ask what weight they are. good luck we searched and searched ebay trading post found ours in pottsville nsw had to get a gas certificate and re register it as even though it weighed 400 and people said nope you dont need a new rego certify we did when i got to rego place they said read the slip it weighs 400 but packed is expected weight of 840 good luck ? :)

by the way hubby said depends where you wanna go with it we take ours up the beach so the lighter you go the better ,otherwise if sticking to tar roads jayco dove may work for you all i know is we (previous partner) from crescent head towed a jayco dove with a nissan and it was heavy

Thanks for that info glassies, I don't expect I will be going along the beach anywhere, will stick to roads. I think I'm probably going to get the A'van sportscraft, only weighs 540kg much lighter than any of the Jayco campers (much smaller too but I'll be on my own so it doesn't really matter). We have a Jayco Hawke Outback and I cannot fault it. Nice and high off the road, tows like its not there and we set it up easily.

Just came back from seven weeks living in it and it was brilliant. The beauty of these are the push out ends for the beds, they give you so much space.

Hi Gillyb. When we were at Gemtree, NT, recently, we met up with a fellow traveller,camped at the gem fields on her own. She was mid 60ish and she was pulling an Avan. The name of her Avan was "Nanna's Cubby". Last week travelling down to Brisbane near Beewah turnoff, we overtook "Nanna's Cubby". She told us , when in the NT, how lovely it was and just perfect for her. It must be as she has certaintly done some k's since we had last seen her!!! Can't tell you what sort of vehicle she had towing it, except it was a small one. Good luck in your search Cheers Dellie

aww you passed by beerwah turnoff i only live down the road from there glasshouse mountains what a shame and i was home pretty much most of the week coulda called in for a cuppa oh well maybe next time hey ? the a line does look a little ok for someone on there own nice and cosy and safe too. they are small but i reckon its all you need on your own good luck with your purchase

Anyway I've been out today and bought a 2003 A'van sportsliner and will be picking it up next week, It is really tiny inside but its all I'll need, nice and easy for me to erect. Dellie I love that name 'Gillies Getaway', hopefully I'll pass through Hervey Bay at some stage so I would love to catch up. I'm in Melbourne but will be heading to Qld to catch up with friends there but no definate date set yet, I want to have a few practice runs close by home first then I have to organise a house sitter to look after my pets :) I'm so excited I can't wait to set off lol

I have my first camper trailer. Though I am happy with it, I still don't stop myself from seeing another one. That is why when you first start looking for camper trailers; dont easily fall into the trap of making comparisons based on options like I have done. Rather check on the major components that really set the trailer apart from another. Knowing how to pick the right camper trailer should come with knowing how much it will cost too.

When I got our CT....we said.firstly..we didnt want to climb over each other during the night for walkies.......and it had to be within our budget..we bought a rear over..soft floor
