The question I would like to pose is......  What do you do for any casual or part time employment to try to help with living, travelling costs as you travel this broad land? What is the best way to find such employment? What sort of employment is out there? Perhaps proffessional employment is not too hard to get but what about non and semi skilled? Does age have a big bearing on getting a position? Do we need an ABN for some employment or is it best overall to have one. I would love to hear your thoughts. We will be embarking in the not too distant future on a tour and feel that we need to have a little income to helpus along.

Over to you I will be very grateful for any help.

We have been doing casual work for the last 3 months in the flinders ranges and have work lined up for another 2 months.
Our first job was at willow springs station, a first for them using grey nomads, they were happy with our work and soon word of mouth saw more job offers coming in.
The job at willow springs was obtained thtu this the help wanted section of this forum.
If you can get an ABN number and a national police check, people will be more willing to put you on saves them worrying about tax, super and work cover.
There is plenty of work around if you are willing to give anything a go.

ready workforce especially in tamworth are always looking for reliable people. If you want to work hard and long hours, (not physical) make a good quid, then have good time off, get yourself into grain corp, oct to mid jan if you want to start in qld and go south. my wife and i were clearing $1500 ea a week no bull****, then get your self into the cotton, april till june/ july nearly the same money, 9 days on 3 off, then relax and travel for for rest of the time. Also i.g.a always looking for workers especially longweekends etc; double time, the young ones wont work on weekends. cheers.

I am intrigued by your "long and hard" and yet you state 'not physical'.  Cant get my head around that.  Can you  tell us more please?

on your feet most of the day, no lifting, etc, independent grocery association, (IGA) not woolies or coles

lots of chicken farms around tamworth to usually looking for casual staff depend if u r up to looking after chickens...  i think ready work force would probley handle their  staffing to  ....

I am at home in Yamba NSW, trying to catch up with tasks waiting for me to be home, and trying to save money to go travelling again!

We are currently in Alice. Applying for jobs over the internet proved fruitless.  Husband registered with an agency which handles a lot of contract work and he had a job in 3 days.  Supermarkets are good too.  Iga especially.

Of course the personal touch is always more effective.  And the site "greynomadsemployment" charges $50 to start with, but it does not expire, it seems. It may be worth it if you  see a job you like.

I was forced to retire in 2006 with health problems which caused me to be an unreliable employee. So I took to the road. Since 2 operations my health has been restored, and I'm fitter ahd healthier than I was when I was 50. I turned 60 in June. So now I'm looking to return to the work force as an escort pilot. I passed the test and got the Level 1 Escort Pilot Accredition. So now I'm testing the system to see what Centrelink and the Department of Education, Employment, and Workplace Relations can do to to back up their claims of getting or keeping the older people back to work. I've asked them to find me work experience which would give me experience to go out and get the work. I know what I have to do, but hands on is always better. No luck so far, and I'm not holding my breath. It's all tokenism and crap, but I may get some cash assistance to fit out my vehicle with lights and signage, and some safety work clothes and boots. Personally I think I'd be better doing my own leg work. If you're willing to take on all sorts of work, even cleaning, you stand a very good chance of getting work. I even considered doing the traffic controller training to do "stop 'n go". As long as it pays.
