I'm keen to hear ideas about receiving mail when you are on the road. We don't have family or friends that we feel comfortable asking to collect and forward our mail for up to a year. What do others do. We are selling our house, so a PO box is to be organised, but what about forwarding it on. Any suggestions please.

Isn't there a site on the front page of this grey nomads site who can do all that for you for a small fee. I'm sure I saw one.
I will be redirecting my mail to my daughters but have my pc set up for online billing and payments so shouldn't be too much hassle.
I should have added you can now get online bank statements, telstra bill, other credit cards, and many more instead of paper bills, that could eliminate a lot of your worries.

I think the first post I ever did on a forum was to ask a similar question. As I was able to arrange mail collection privately I didn't need to pursue the subject.

If you go to http://www.thegreynomads.com.au/featurespages/PLANNING.html (part of the "thegreynomads" website) you will see some links including one to http://mail4ward.com.au/. I have also seen advertising in caravan type magazines for this type of service and there's good ole Google to search.

I have arranged wherever possible for direct debits and credits for bills and payments where appropriate. I have never had a problem, however you do need to check when the direct debits start to avoid any misunderstanding and there must be sufficient funds in the account to meet the payment. It's best not to "sail too close to the wind" in this regard in case a late payment into the fund causes it to not have sufficient funds in time for bill payment. You still need to have some way to check your mail however.

Other forumsters may be able to recommend specific services that they use.

Hi Sheryl & Gav, we too are thinking of selling up and on the road full time at the end of the year, and as we also have no family in the area, we have organised a PO box with our local post office, and they have told us that if we leave an envelope with say $100 in it in the box, they will by the bag and forward our mail onto us when we ring and let them know where we will be. This ammount should last approx. 12 months. From what I understand quite a number of post offices do this - particularly the smaller ones. My brother uses Post Haste - i have seen their advertisement on the main page of the gn website. He reports the are very reliable, and prompt with their service. he has been using them for the past three years.
