This will be our first long trip, we are after advice on camp spots between port augusta and darwin. We plan on spending some time around uluru & the olgas. Travelling with our pet ****zu. Any advice would be great?

Hi Chris,
We are in Darwin now just having come up the centre from Pt. Pirrie.
Will depend on what sort of set up you have and what sort of roads you prepared to travel on.
Here are a few of the ones we used:
If you are planning on staying in Coober Pedy the better Caravan Park as far as being a lot quieter is the Big 4 on the outskirts of the town is the pick of them. Sorry I didn't notice if they allowed pets.
Agnes Creek is a really nice "freebie" (so you dog is no problem) and there are usually quite a number staying the night.
When we went out to Ayres Rock we chose to stay at Curtin Springs. If you are staying there don't worry about getting power (if you can survive without it) as the powered sites are quite near the shop and their generator goes all night. It was cheaper to stay there and leave the van and just go into the rock without it.
Can recommend the G'Day Mate Caravan Park in Alice Springs. Again it's a touch out of the town but the hospitality is great and they go out of their way to be helpful. Advise booking ahead on this one.
Taylors creek is another good "freebie" with heaps of other campers in there most of the time.
Banka Banka station is quite good. $8 per person, plenty of water but no power. Dogs allowed on a leash. Good amenities and a load of washing is only $2. Get there before 2.30 if you can, they book out quickly.
The Daley Waters Pub is a must if you are in there before midday. When we went (which was on a weekend) they were fully booked by 1pm and even the unpowered sites in the paddock were all gone by 3pm. It was a fun time.
Bridge Creek on the Darwin side of Pine Creek was alright. Bit nearer the road than the other ones we stayed at but it was still OK.
We are staying in Lee Point Caravan Park now and will be here for another two weeks I would say. I had heard conflicting reports about this park but we are quite happy with where we are. Mind you I wouldn't like to be in the ensuite area as they are too close to each other for my liking. The thing is if you don't like the first site they show you tell them so and they will take you to another one. I think we looked at two others before settling on the one we are on now.

Hi Ma Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I guess that we are on the large side being 27 ft tow bar length but can handle most well formed roads. Safe travels, while in darwin try crustaceans restaraunt in the wharf precinct their seafood platter for two is to die for.
