We are currently in Bowen but unfortunately have to move on. I have booked into Alva Beach for the duration of the Qld school holidays and would love to hear from fellow travellers who have stayed there.
Specifically would like to know about the fishing, where can we launch our tinnie etc. Also have heard that the internet/mobile coverage is pretty poor and we need to be in touch daily.
After Alva we intend heading off to Bramston Beach for a lengthy stay. Before I book I would like to hear what others think - as you may gather, we are keen fisherpeople!

I don't know why people say "Google it" when they can easily post a link -Badgers site
If internet is important to you I would suggest you arrange an external antenna.

Re Bramston Beach
The caravan park at Bramston is run by the council and they charge $15 for a non powered site. Amenities are ok but basic.
The old Plantation caravan park at the Southern end of Bramston Beach used to be our favourite and the favourite of grey nomads for several months of the year.
Unfortunately recently the management has gone to the dogs and the price has gone up. $25 for powered and $15 or so for unpowered. Amenities are a joke with the hot water available being a perhaps or perhaps not system.
Some of the nomads who have been camping there every year for ten years or more mentioned last time we visited that they would be trying elsewhere. We were last there about four weeks ago.
Fishing is ordinary to good provided you have a vessel. There are reefs close offshore if someone will tell you how to find them. Boat ramp South of the old Plantation park in the small inlet.
Always a chance that the Plantation mob will get their act together and fix the amenities.
