Hi Marydoll,
I forget the correct terminology, but you can get 6 months worth of Scripts at a time, to cover this sort of thing. Your Dr. will know. I used to get mine that way when I lived on Cape York, and only got to Cairns every six months or so.
Cheers,
Sheba.

It's called Regulation 24. This allowes you six months worth of prescriptions all at once like Sheba said.

If you require heavy medication which requires an authority, you will only get the initial prescription with 3 repeats. The dose you take will determine how long they'll last.
Although my doctor in Broome knew what I was planning, and for all the doctors I've seen since, I have never been offered 6 months worth of scripts for the "authority" medication, which included Panadiene Forte and Dothep for pain.
When you need to update, you see the local doctor wherever you are, and go through the usual procedure.
The doc will probably check Blood Pressure and general health while you're there.
I carry a file of my medical issues, and if necessary I take some relevant paperwork and any current medical images from my previous doctor, or in your case, your GP in your home town.
If you explain to your own doctor before you leave home, I'm sure they will make sure you have everything you can have for the duration. They may also supply a report of your overall health for future reference on your travels.
Do everything you can to get your personal medical records up to date in preparation for your travels. Safe and happy travels.
