Hi to all you folks that like to wet a line. As a keen fisherman, while travelling, I do like to challenge myself and try and find my own fishing spots and try my luck. However , when time is short, you can not beat local knowledge. Does anyone know of any websites that offer accurate and up-to-date fishing reports / locations. I have tried googling for sites but have not found any that are much good. A fishing forum would be great for this site. Does anyone else feel the same ? Is something like this planned for this nomads site ? "TIGHT LINES" Cheers Doug
PS The photo is what I think is a rare "Silver Perch" I caught and released near Mildura

If you're heading for a specific destination you might try contacting the local camping and fishing outlet to get local knowledge.
If they can't help you, they will probably be able to put you in touch with someone who can.
Good luck and "tight lines".

Maaaate. one dosn't go fishing to catch fish. it is just an excuse to run away on your own with several cold ones and mellow. if you catch a fish you then have to scale and gut it before taking it home then hope the cook will cook it for you. Crabbing. now that is a totally different game. All cooks love crabs.
Cheers Jack.
ps before any one gets mad. (Just joking)

When I had my 20 foot half cab boat I would anchor up about 10km off shore , hang a rod over the side with only a sinker, lay back in my seat and snooze. Never caught a fish doing it but it seemed I caught lots of fisherman as often an hour later there would be a dozen boats there ruining the peace and quiet I was trying to find. cheers blaze

I'm just in for supplies for a couple of days then back out to do battle again, I've caught half a dozen (catch and release) but there is nothing better than standing in a clear mountain stream flicking out a hand made fly that you made up the night before then stand in the early morning sun, watching the trout rise to take it
it aint about catching them thats for sure although it is fun when one latches on, back out again Monday, fishing is all about the relaxation

My best trick was when people would follow me around(as a charter boat operater I get followed a lot ) was to put a marker buoy out and then move it 300m overnight. All the followers would go to the marker next day, and as I have lots of marks, they would leave me alone.Bill

you devious mongrel, no wonder I couldn't find any fish, LOL! just pull up anywhere and you will soon get a few boats around you!
I do it when out here, I pull up outside of a wreck (when it is in use) yell a bit and make out I'm catching, then when the other boat moves off to come alongside me I up anchor and knick his possy over the wreck and catch the snapper!
no good getting older if you aint getting smarter!
