Dave. It's a bit hard for me to catch up with everything, however, when Roger retires I have no intension of us sitting around, so if it's in 2011 we will be there. In June this year we are heading of to Alice, then just sliding into this retirement thing. We are committed to a trip to Coberg Pen {NT} in June of 2011, other than that there is nothing set in cement,so we can go anywhere...anytime...and would love to!!! It would be lovely to see Ma and Guru again,..{hint hint}. Hope its not that far away tho, and theres a lot of new friends I would love to put a face to, as it were. You bet our intrest is there re meeting up.
Cheers Dellie

I'm interested depending on weather and how much it might cost /free camping possibilities. SA heat would do me in in summer! So provisionally I'm in if its cooler and affordable. It would be good to know which bits need 4x4 too cos my van isn't. :)

I think I need a bit of clarification here................
What happend to the meet up that Chris and Robbie (hotrodbus) were organising?
Is the meet up that Dave is organising the same as the one that Christ and Robbie were organising?
Now Ron and Shirley are organising one???????
Is the Duck organising one????????
Is it Alice Springs????
Is it the Flinders Ranges???
What time of the year and for that matter what year???? I thought it was 2011 but this is all getting a bit confusing.
Hijacks all over the place it seems

well there is still only the one that was and still is being organised here apart from the mudgee meet
it is the one that was originally being organised by Chris and Robbie, I was helping Chris with preparation
if Ducky or someone else is organising another somewhere else then I and a lot of others are unaware of it but that dilemma is easily solved, I will can this get together and step aside to stop confusion
so confusion ended!

Hey Dave my friend, no need to back off mate. You are doing a good job. I wasn't having a shot at anyone I was just confused as to what, where, when etc.
I hadn't seen Chris or Robbie around for a while and just wondered what was going on.
Now that all is clear....................CARRY ON REGARDLESS. Keep up the good work.

Elaine if we are getting duplicity between here and the ABB as far as gatherings are concerned then what is the point of me trying to drum up support for Chris's original idea in here
one gathering is more than enough from one website, after all the people are the same people in both forums, I was helping Chris to do this but if it is being prepared in the ABB forum then I cant see the point in replication here
the numbers for participation are grossly disproportionate to members, we have maybe 15 replies from a membership of what 1300 plus
we had 35 folks at Lynne's celebration last night at Fung Lee's restaurant, and these up until a week ago were strangers, I am still suffering this morning we put the last glass away at 4 am however that is twice the number that seems to be interested in a get together from here
if we cant get a minimum of 100 to gather out of so called "friends" then I cant see the point in me trying any further,
Chris has stopped and so will I!

As far as I am aware Dave, the only meet up that is on ABB is the Mudgee one. You can definitely count us in on the one for 2011.

I stand corrected Dave. There is an ABB one for SA. That's not till September. So no reason this one can't go ahead as well is there? I would sincerely hope that it can.

I had no idea there was another forum involved in anything except also coming to Mudgee. To assume that we all understand this stuff is not nescessarily the case. This is the only forum I'm on . Why do I feel like I'm being punished somehow....what were the expectations and by whom?? Who is Chris? There are several here...are there others? Why are there separate groups if were all doing stuff together?
I'm very confused and so disappointed that its been cancelled . I also had no idea it was expected to be a Cecil B de Mille event with a cast of thousands! Is that usually the case,? If a multi forum thing is being organised I think it should be made clear.
I'm new here so really I don't know how you all conduct things. I don't find that idea of a cast of thousands appealing at all - and would run in the other direction--and would have thought a group of about 15 or so was great and a size where one could actuallyget to know each other a bit. Don't please assume I'm suggesting an upper limit....I'm not
I hope you'll reconsider Dave...maybe have a good break and think about it a bit later ? I was so looking forward to seeing SA with folk who Know it! This rant is not in anger....just confusion ......and disappointment

Denise this is the only forum, I have ever and will ever belong to. what goes on in other forums I have no idea of, I hear things about other forums and am at the moment getting emails from folks whom I have never heard of from the ABB, some good, some not so good but all unsolicited and I wish it would stop, my inbox is busy enough, I really am not interested with what goes on in other forums
if someone else is arranging a meeting of folks from here or there, then so be it, I am not, and I will not go into competition with another forum, there is enough animosity between the two groups as it is, I would much rather simply step aside, all I am interested in is a happy reasonable size group to have a meet and to have a look around my backyard,
including the unusual soft bodied fossils, of which I am very familiar with, up by parachilna that you made mention of earlier, I am very familiar with all free camping in that area as well
out of the 15 or so who have showed interest, there is a few who are not even sure if they can come at all, what the final number ends up as I have no idea, to then split that number up further between forums is simply a futile exercise
Chris (Hotrodbus) is or was (I dont know anymore) a member of the GN'S, she originally came up with the idea of a meeting of the clan a fair while ago now, I simply backed her in a moment of attack from another member here who didn't want to have a meeting, why that member chose to attack her I dont know because if she didn't want to go then why even look into that thread, just seems to be the way with some folk!
but as I have said I will step aside, as I have done, and let other proceedings take precedent, i cant even guarantee that we will be here at the allotted agreed time, and cant give a response as to whether we will attend or not, we are travelers and we are rarely home except for work or other commitments, if it wasn't for our son we would be gone full time
I will offer any or all of my knowledge and suggestions of itinerary to anyone including other websites or forums in an effort to preclude any animosity that may or may not be forthcoming but I will not be the instigator of a meeting if it means clashing with another forum duplicating our members
we are going home this afternoon then to cessnock Friday for a couple of weeks, Denise our lives are full of "meeting folks" we do it every day, we have made terrific friends from the hospital/ restaurant and from our hotel, we will be meeting with them on a regular basis from here on
when a group WANTS to get together it just happens, it is never this hard!
this reminds me of herding cat's!
Yes dave i am interested but will what for more info.
