After suggestions to get from wagga to newcastle, doesn't have to be the shortest or quickest route, just scenic.

My idea is to vary the scenery.
Wagga to Yass then head for Canberra/Queanbeyan. Over the Kings Highway (some don't like this road, we use it all the time and never had any trouble, just drive to the conditions) to Bateman's Bay, turn left up the coast, call in at Ulladulla because the kettle is on for your cuppa, up through Berry and Kiama, up Mt. Ousley (Wollongong) turn left on Picton Road continue on along the 5 and then the 7 (toll way this one) take the Richmond Road exit, follow signs to Windsor then signs to Singleton and from Singleton to Newcastle.
Certainly not the shortest but the scenery is so diverse. Wheat crops and canola then Canberra for the look see at the pollies, some beaut rain forest type scenery along Kings Highway then the coastal scene. Then the Aussie bush from Windsor to Singleton and back towards the coast.
Plenty of free camps along the way and/or CP's if that's your go.
Just the way I would go, hate travelling through cities like Sydney.

I didn't have in mind any links in particular Jim, that was just my ideal route if I was going to do it. Thanks for that though, probably better than me just saying stuff.

go Dubbo and visit the zoo then head to Hunter Valley visit Pokolbin wineries and gardens, can't remember the name of the gardens but they were beautiful.
