I have an appointment in Coffs Harbour next week, and wondering if anyone knows where I might find a nights free-camping near or close to town. (Caravan Parks are not my first choice) ..
Have already perused "Oz Camps" and "Camps 5" .. without much luck.
For those that are familiar with staying overnight at the "Coffs Hbr Jetty", I was advised an hour ago by Coffs Council that overnight camping in any form is now illegal in that location. There are other alternatives away from Coffs, but your advice would be appreciated ..
regards

Hi Jonathon,I dont know of any free camping in Coffs, the showground is very handy to the town center.Apart from that I usually stay at Moonee Beach cp.You are right about the park near the Jetty,to many people abused it by overstaying their welcome.Cheers.Ibbo.

hi Ibbo ..
I think I may need to consider an early morning arrival .. and park outside the venue itself ..
I've done that on more than one occasion ..
thanks mate ..

Hi Jon,
B/i/law told me about one at Mylestom, 25klm past Coffs.
If that's not to far out, let me know and i will get some directions.

hi John ..
Not sure where that is but will look it up .. I prefer to stay somewhere along the Grafton road .. but closer to Coffs for the convenience.
If I dont find something, I'll just pull up for the night at a truck-stop or parking bay ..
thanks John

Hi Jon! Lived in Woolgoolga 20min north of Coffs for 7 years & have always seen caravans parked in the showground which is within walking distance of the centre of town, unless there has been an event happening there.

Hi Jon! If the Bruxner Pk Rd one that Hammer mentioned is the one I think it is then you head Nth out of Coffs for about 5Klm till you see a left turnoff to the Bruxner Lookout, then follow the road for about 8Klm weaving your way through bananas then bush till you see a left turn onto Scenic Dr where I think the sign says Bruxner Lookout. Has room to park & also has a picnic area plus gives a great view over Coffs but not sure if its for overnight camping, if not you would probably get away with it easy enough anyway. If questioned you can always say you were too tired to travel more. Cheers Jon ps: I'm Jonathan also.
