And it's always on Australia Day that has beens like him raise their ugly heads and say we need to change the flag. It's part of our heritage.
I have a rather large Aussie Flag on the front of my house.
I am wearing an Aussie T Shirt WITH THE FLAG ON IT!
My car has TWO Aussie Flags on the top and one on the back.
My van has an Aussie Sticker on the back
When we camp the first thing put up is the Aussie Flag.
The last thing to come down is the Aussie Flag.
LEAVE OUR BLOODY FLAG ALONE!!!!!!!

As has been said every year around this time someone will start on about our Anthem or Flag.
I found the following in a newspaper some years ago, I believe it was published in an R.A.A.F. Newsletter but I could be wrong and the author is unknown.
Our flag bears the stars that blaze at night, In our Southern skies of blue, And the little old flag in the corner, That's part of our heritage too.
It's for the English, the Scots and the Irish, Who were sent to the ends of the earth, The Rogues and the schemers, the doers and dreamers, Who gave modern Australia birth.
And you who seek to change it, You don't seem to understand, It's the flag of our law and language, Not the flag of a faraway land.
There are plenty of people who'll tell you, That when Europe was plunged into night, That little old flag in the corner, Was their symbol of freedom and light.
It doesn't mean we owe allegiance, To a forgotten imperial dream, We've the stars to show us where we're going, And the old flag to show where we've been. Anon.
I think it says it all but in my words LEAVE OUR BLOODY FLAG ALONE.

It's interesting to note that it's the younger generation that is as proud as any of us in our traditional flag. 20 years ago when this issue first arose one hardly saw the flag being flown compared to today.
I think that even KRudd would work out that this is a dead issue and won't waste his time on it. After all he's get better things to waste his time on big noting himself, including pretending to run the country.
naturally the loony lefties like Bob Brown and that serial idiot Harold Scruby are getting in on the act.
(that's the same H Scruby from the (self styled) pedestrian council, the anti 4wd, anti bullbar, anti anything-with-wheels mob)

Be wary of flag and/or republic debates being thrown around later this year as we have an election coming up and "they" could well start using these topics to play "wedge politics" and divert the debate from the real issues the nation faces.

I wouldn't worry about it, if "they" did "they" will only lose more votes because they will have misread the Ozzie sentiments. The "wedgey" will be to their detriment!

Welcome to the forum Cully,
I wasn't very clear but I had in mind more the republic debate than the flag....Rudd has already put out a couple of "feelers" here. His motive will be to "wedge" the Opposition as republic support is split and his intention would be to create disunity in their ranks.
A bit off the flag topic but I wonder if he's got one or two more "Apologies" sitting in his bottom drawer ready to pull out and use as the election draws closer?
regards,
Jim

Thanks for the welcome Jim, have been lurking for awhile reading the posts etc.
Understood what you said, I think he will be too scared to trot out either subject before the election, he would be committing electoral suicide. I can't see anything like that happening in foreseeable future if at all.
I believe despite there differences in the ranks the oppostion will pull together with a common purpose come election time, pity Joe Hockey wasn't at the wheel though.
Ray Martin leads push for flag change
