Just for fun thought I would ask this question.

Hubby and I are still working at this stage so go on holidays throughout the year, however our holidays are getting longer and when retirement hits who knows how long they will be.

Good question. As my profile states, my van is my home and where I park is where I live. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I've been parked up in Cairns while the medical fraternity work to repair some faulty body parts. Thank God for medical science research. I'd much rather be on the road somewhere else.

For clarification we will fall into On the road more than 9 months pa but still own a house catergory mid next month.

We always kept our house, but were on the road full time for 3 years, when we first stopped work (1998-2000). Since then, have travelled for up to 9 months of each year, sometimes doing some work along the way. Last 3 years have only been away for 4-5 months each time. I am the one who would travel for longer periods - the partner has started to find it boring, something I cannot understand.

Can't understand it either, there is so much to see in this wonderful country (not levelling any criticism here at all) I suppose some people just get tired of travelling.

Might only be on the road 3 - 6 months a year but that doesn't mean we would do waaaaaaay more if we could. Looking forward to the time when we can just pop home occasionally to check the house is still standing.

We will be on the road fulltime about October this year. We both retire June this year. We are selling up everything- cars, motorbikes, both houses and all furniture, collectables etc. One daughter has a fortieth birthday in september so have decided to celebrate that with the family then go. The full monty- thats us- everything in motion at moment- full swing to meet the deadline!

We retired 5 years ago and have spent about 8-9 months on the road each year since.
In April we are going to Fiji for 2 years to do some volunteer work through Australian Volunteers International.

well, dad don't have much hair left these days, I have a bit of grey hair in my growing beard.. weird. We don't have any plans to be on the road full time, mostly when ever we want to go we will go

so if you sell your house etc, what do you do for van/car rego for addresses and your mail that used to go to your house or mailbox?

We were only renting on Bribie Island so we sold all our furniture and our vehicles and we have hit the road full time.

We pay all our bills online and have any mail sent to my daughter's address and she sends it all on to us.

We both have grey hair so I suppose we are true Grey Nomads biggrin
