They have my support and have done so from the start, I live just across the border ranges from them and have suggested a short get together maybe Murwllimbah showground or Mullumbimby showgrounds reasonable facilities and very reasonable cost, I recently stayed at Mullumbimby showgrounds as part of a group $10..00 per nite.
We needn't go as a so called rally group but make it, say over a week and people can drift in and out as they please.
Mullumbimby - beach 10 mins one direction and rainforest 20 mins the other way.
Suggestions please

Thats a good idea!
I havent been saying much about a gathering this year, as we are still a CFZ (Caravan Free Zone) and I've still got work commitments. But we can always take a little holiday ... even bring the dreaded tent if thats what it takes. We'll be there if we can is the best I can say

They have my support for sure guys, I just can't make it this year due to the timing of our trip.
But its all swings and roundabouts isn't it, the ones you miss this year you may catch next year.
I do hope they keep it going and if I can help in any way, just give me a hoy.

Our support also.
Chris and Robbie, Did you know that your topic has now registered the second highest number of replies since the forum started in 2005 ? If that doesn't show the amount of interest we have in meeting other grey nomads then i don't know what would.
The problem seems to be in the timing and distance and i can relate to that. As suggested i think each state or area should organise their own , for starters at least. Personally, we have already planned our major trip for this year, but will be in Casino again late Nov. for m.i.laws 98th b/day. So if you are still there at that time then there will be at least 2 of us for that one.
Keep up the good work. Rome was not built in a day (or a bus)

distance is yet to be decided so scrap that excuse, timing has yet to be decided so scrap that one, venue has not been decided now whats the next obstacle!
the length of time spent in the company of other nomads is totally up to the individual, as I stated this is Chris and Robbie's Baby so I am very loathe to step in but I will not stand by and watch it get Pooh poohed
all theses things can be overcome by a little bit of common sense, a gathering will be fantastic and I guarantee that all of you will enjoy it
even though you have reservations about meeting this one or that one you will love it!!
Chris and Robbie have had a couple of setbacks which I don't think is fair on them, they are trying their best to get this off the ground, all we got to do is just simply turn up, or not!!
I just ask for a little bit of support (as jim is doing) for them.

They have it from me Dave 100%.
I think the idea is brilliant and anyone who has what it takes to get off their backside and make something like this happen is without a doubt, pretty spot on in my books.

Hope my previous post did't come across the wrong way.
We are 100% behind any gathering of the grey nomads, anywhere anytime. Those that can"t make it, may be able to get to the next.

Chris and Robbie, I reckon that this is a great idea
The concept of more localised gatherings as a precursor is also sound.
For my part, I can make no commitment as I am completely unsure of when I will be able to get mobile again. Health and family issues, once more. But I will do it.
Meanwhile, enjoy your freedoms, folks.

Pam,that is a good idea. Why not work on Pams suggestion?Nothing complicated and straight to the point.I like it.Obviously you can't please everyone, but at least the movement will get off the ground.Nothing like a good time to encourage people to join whenever the next gathering will be.Chris and Robbie, good on you both for getting the ball rolling, now let us all back you up.Cheers Ibbo.

there is nothing to stop any of us having a "smaller" gathering anytime but I like the idea of one big one! even if it is a once a year thing! or even bi annual!
that way at least I know who I'm swearing at!!

What is wrong with having a standing destination and date then all who are able each year would, if they so desired attend and make themselves known.

G'day all Would love to attend any gathering of Nomads. Darwin is a bit far from everyone unless you wish to do it here. (just joking) We are starting our lap in june/july and hope to meet as many of you as is possible during our trip. We have no time frame so we hope it works for us.

well a standing destination would be okay once we determine where it is! I just thought a central location would make more sense

As I have previously said, we will be leaving Bunbury early March heading initially to Streaky Bay then on to Yorkes Peninsula for perhaps 3 weeks exploring.
From there we visit Adelaide (mum) then onward to points east.
We hope to catch up with some forumites this time and if we can make it to a 'gathering' we will do it.
Cheers

As far as I can determine I'm the only knocker, albeit unintentionally.
I've never opposed the planned gathering, I just offered comment of an alternative kind. After all, it's not my decision if others go or not. That's up to every individual, and they can make up their own minds. Freedom of choice.
I don't make any of the rules here.
Like I continue to say, if I can get there I will. It's a matter of place and time, and where I am at the time. That's all.
