here is a free spot for you southerners in our"winter".You have to get the barge acroos from Townsville, and it has no facilities, but , hey , its free. and you get to camp next to a tropical beach. used to be a resort,but the greenies stopped it years ago. road in suitable for small vans and 4wd campers.camper under big fig trees in the shade. provisions at Nelly bay Or H,shoe bay. Was at MI in the 70's just after the big cyclone and there'd been a bit of damage but it was just lovely anyway. Its definitely on the list.
