We're leaving Adelaide in about 6 weeks and heading south east, we plan to head to Mt Gambier and then Great ocean road, then somewhere on the Murray river. I would like to know of any really good van parks or camping grounds we don't plan too far ahead, when we are ready to move on we then decide which way to go. The only plan is to head home to Mackay by about easter catch up with family then go again when ever.

G'day and welcome to you, there are heaps of free camps, may I suggest you call into a camping shop and purchase the "camps australia wide" book, it is currently in its fifth edition
this will pay for itself within two freebies

Hi to you too, we have that book and have used quite a lot going to W.A. but sometimes talking to other nomad gives you a lot more info. We have only had this laptop a couple of months and so i am making a few mistakes, love reading all the chat that goes on. The only reason we bought this was to chat to you all and then decide where to go next.

well the best way that I foud to find the freebies is to go to the local pub, buy a beer and just ask the locals, never fails with us, we've done it all over the joint
a lot of times the barman will say "pull her up out the back mate" and wont charge a cent, we have found a lot of beautifull camps that way

If you have the time, call in to Nelson just over the border from Mt Gambier in Vic. Pleasant little spot if you like quiet and bush and beaches not far away, and lotsa fishing . We really enjoyed it there

Hi Colsa and welcome to the forum.
The POI files from CAW cost $19.95. I have purchased them for my Garmin and given the amount of information and the work in compiling these POIs I consider it very good value. They are intended to be used in conjunction with their CAW5 book.
