Well Guru mate, it sounds like we have a reputation to live up to now.
I'm ready when you are.
We used to sing that Song of Australia when I was at primary school, and still think it should have been the anthem.
However, when the song group gives a rousing rendition of the anthem, I don't recall ever finishing the first verse without a tear or pride.
We get enough yanky stuff thrust upon us in our every day lives whether we want it or not.
It's time Australia stood up for itself in its own right, independent of the Brits and the Yanks.
May the New Year 2010 be good to us all.

Deering Street Roundabout it is then Basil. Don 't have to worry about the alfoil beenie, we have the silver fish overlooking that whole intesection and with the bumper to bumper traffice we will be assured of a captive (ated) audience.

Well Rolly may be a little bit impressed (or not), we have a Welsh couple in Singers, and they both sing a couple of the Welsh songs in our song books. He's a rousing tenor, and she's a contralto/alto, but it does sound great.
Can't understand a word, but they certainly make it easier to listen to.
Maybe when we get a real leader who can stand on his own 2 feet on the peoples behalf, we can cut the ties with those foreigners.

Hi Dave I fitted my own Solar hot watersystem with gas boosting, then to get my Gov rebate got a plummer in to check it out & fillout the paper work, charged me $50 That was legal & I know the job was done properly. Cheers Daryl

mate i was joking, you know me better than that
my son has the solar hot water and reckons it's great, so how hard was it to install, I understand the water is still basically in the hot water service but recirculates throughout the panel and has a gas booster in the tank, so if you have showers at night wouldnt the gas booster constantly kick in thereby negating the solar part of it
the way I see it is that to get the greatest benefit from these things then a morning shower is the go, I hate morning showers as I cant see the point of having a shower to go to work, night shower for me thank you!
just make sure you keep the sacrificial anode replacement up to date, can be expensive if you dont!

The job was done properly if you did it yourself!!! I find tradesmen particularly sparkys and plumbers a tad unreliable always keen to take shortcuts to get maximum cash for least effort. The only time you can come unstuck is when you sell your house especially in the ACT. We have to get an inspection and the get the original plans and look for GPO's not on the plans, Tap's not on the plans etc then go searching for the paperwork that should be on file and when they are not they then ask the householder who installed them and you say an electrician did it, a plumber did it but because I paid him cash he obvoiusly didn't do the paperwork..... Net result is that they check them and pass them.....

Thanks for that tip Basill. Dave the solar H/Ws is all on the roof & The tank is stainless steel. The Gas booster is under the veranda & in the hot water out line, it senses the incoming water temp & only fires up if not up to the requred temp. The gas booster is switched off most of the summer, but his far south hasto be used afair bit during winter. Even so we would only use one 100Lb botle of LPG in the winter ( that to could be another iligal thred) Cheers Daryl
