Looks like this will be foisted on us by the end of the week..... I'm not to sure about this. I have strong doubts that there is much we can do about climate change, it's going to change even if we stopped emitting any greenhouse gas at all. Yes though it defies the first law of physics and that is that you cannot either create or destroy matter, only change it's form so the earth is essentially getting "heavier" but not because of the growing population but becvause every day the earth gains around 500 tones of extraterestrial matter, dust, meteors etc.... No fact not L Ron Hubbards ranting. I think we are yet again being conned....

Basil.....................talk to any archeologist and he will tell you that we have had nearly twice as much Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere as we currently have and when that was the case there were no cars or coal fired plants.
This is all just a naturally occurring event. Like everything else the climate works in cycles and we are in the middle of a cycle that is changing.
I concur.....there is not much we can do about it other than wear it. I am sick of hearing it and worse still.......paying for it. But that is going to get worse too. This is only going to put the price of everything up................not fix a damn thing!!
Mass Hysteria!!

I do not believe carbon trading will benefit you or I or indeed even the planet but it will benefit big business and government as usual. It may even give government a reason to further control its population by limiting out ability to travel by imposing a carbon tax on all road travellers. Those of us choosing to travel extensively are most likely to be hardest hit and have to curtail our travels?
Once the scheme comes in I do believe any carbon producing activity (such as road travel) will be under threat. I simply hope commonsense prevails on this and studies showing carbon taxing will not achieve carbon reductions are given some credence.
But did you know that commonsense died recently and hardly anybody noticed?

Interesting article in the West Australian this morning pointing out that Krudd has promised to pay $116 BILLION by 2019-20 to compensate big polluters and households for his ETS madness. The fact that this is MORE than his tax will raise does not seem to worry anyone. So far as I understand this lunacy, we will produce the same amount of carbon, but tax it. How will this cut greenhouse gases? Cheers, Tony

I agree Tony, that's how I see it as well.
Keep generating carbon emissions, and as long as you pay the tax all will be right with the world. It's a money grabbing farce.
Industries will even be able to trade off with other industries, as long as they pay the tax.
No reduction of emissions, just another tax on industry, and the consumer will be the bunny who wears it in the end.
If they start charging drivers for their vehicle emisions, we'll all be housebound.
That would reduce the spending power of the travellers.
It's a huge economical snowball much bigger than just carbon emissions.
I think the "Krudd" Govt should be chopped off at the knees.

I was asked other day....why I havent converted to green power????........why would I pay the power company extra on my power bill....so they can profit.....what do I get???........less money in the bank for???
Also....if Krudd had the balls....instead of carbon trading.......tell companies they got 2 years to become green...or be fined $$$$$Millions a day till they do....why waite to 2050???
as Ducky said...Climate change..is just a cycle.....Hell I remember things were lot hotter stayed hotter longer back in the 60's..
any way.......why worry about the heat...we all going to drown when the poles melt and the country goes under

You are right Smokey........I remember when I first moved to Ceduna.....we would have a week of over 40. Five years later we were getting about five days over the whole summer over 40. Just cycles....

I've found myself in need of 'Surrey Top' when going out in the noonday sun, so I've got meself a set of solar panels to give me a spot of shade.
Charge the batteries as well, they do.

That's thinking mate. Make sure you mount a wind genny (or carry Ibbo with you) on the back as well, in case it's overcast

Not true, not true!
They actually work best horizontally on a slightly overcast day on a beach or similarly reflective surface.
Tried and tested by the best of boffins. (And me )
