Hi there; since arriving home in the Mount early Oct, after being on Sunny Coast for 6months, we have been busy catching up with family and new grandchild. As the tax dept was nice and gave us a refund, and as fares are cheap, hubbie decided we would go to Asia for December. Fly to Kuala Lumpur on 3/12 returning 29/12. Going to north of Vietnam, Hanoi, Halong Bay etc. Looking forward to some shopping in Kuala Lumpur before flying home. Plan is to hopefully travel again in March, this time up the middle, which we havent done yet. Hope everyone on here has a great Christmas and an even better New Year. Cheers, Colleen

Colleen, you have a right good time up there in Malasia. One of my favourite places. I am suitably envious. We particularly like Batu Ferringhi on Penang Island and I am trying to get a week or more there soon. Tell me are you flying with Air Asia, if so would love to hear what they are like. The fares look really inviting. All the best and a Happy Christmas.

Thanks Terro; yes flying Air Asia, great prices! Rob has been to Penang, so perhaps we may get there to have a look at your recommendation. Oh and read your post re how to treat ambos; good stuff. Friend of ours was one for years until one job involved 4 young male friends of his daughters who had been at his house earlier in the evening-none survived, he subsequently retreated to a desk job until he left. He is now quite happy working in an aged care hostel. Cheers

Have a great time in Asia. Sounds like you are having a good look around. Think about us but don't worry about us slaving away back here. We'll be okay :)

We'll be right. makes my couple of days to Casino next week pale into insignificence. ( how do you spell that Rolly?)
Seriously, have a great time and don't forget to put your GN sticker on your bag.

I lived on the Island for 3 years 81-84. If you get there you have to have Chilli Crab at Gurney drive night markets.

One of our favourite things is dining at the beaut little restaurants along the road. Our favourite one we have eaten at for the last 10 years is Boatman, No 46 Batu Ferringhi, 11100, Penang. Tel 604 881 2767. The seafood ****tails are to die for followed by the Tom Yum if you like a little spicebut my very favourite is Mee Goreng as only a native Malaysian can cook it. All washed down with a cold Tiger beer. Then walk back to the hotel browsing the street market. Heaven.
