We spent a lovely day today driving up around Mt Tambourine, Qld. The scenery and views were spectacular on the way up. First stop was The Tom Thumm Gallery and winery. We talked with a very nice artist, John Palmer, who was happy to explain not only his art, but also the shells and coral that he framed. He explained how he imports them from Indonesia and he turns them into beautiful works of art. Also frames Italian face masks, musical insturments, etc. Worth a visit if your up that way.
On the way back, we stopped at a daggy looking shop called something like "Cats Whiskers Collectables". what a surprise, it was beautifull inside. The glassware and china was great, including Royal Albert at reasonable prices. Outside were other surprises, including full suits of armour, didnt expect that. Lots of trinkets, and a nice looking cafe. Shame about the front image, I dont know if they get many customers as it was away from the main drag.
Anyway, if your touring Qld, take a day trip up the mountain.
