There are obviously people out there who need to get out more

It's 6 years since I was last in Britain.

The "Political Correctness" thing had become a complete farce and extremely inhibiting to male and female alike.

British society has lost almost all of the robustness that it once had.

I left Britain for Australia, as a twenty- something, in the mid '60s because it was becoming apparant that the nation was losing its grip on its identity.

It was a wise move.

There are, however strong signs of a similar malady emerging here.

You must not be gender specific when speaking in general terms vis. the use of 'them' or 'their' (which I abhor) when traditionally 'him' or 'his' would have encompassed both genders. Sometimes, in despair, I use 'her/his/its' to illustrate my liverishness.

On the other hand, a mob of people will stand around and cheer whilst someone has another on the ground and is kicking the sh1t out of him.
Not just the blokes, either. 

Sad.

Yes it takes all kinds of people... The political correctness thing has gone overboard and no one seems to know who is driving it. Most of the females I associate with agree that it's defeminising to women that they can't be reffered to as chicks, shielas etc. One told me a certain Canberra Dr told her to refer to her breasts as breasts and not boobs. Maybe I just associate with different people.... I come from an era when a lot of black dogs (including some very famous ones) were called ******, now look at the uproar that is causing today during the remake of the classic movie "Dam Busters"....
Nonsensical in a word.
See how stupid it is, even the engine driving the forum won't let me use the word N i g g e r. Yet semi nude females in advertising banners is OK???? and that gets up my nose why never full frontal males????

My teachers spent many hours teaching us the difference between male and female titles. Miss, Mister, Missus, heir, heiress, prince, princess, duck, drake, dog, bitch, hen, rooster. We even had questions about it in our primary school exams. It has radically changed our language, like many other things like "techno-speak", computer language, street language and industry-specific terminology. eg if something is 'bad' these days, it's apparently good. If it's 'filthy' is just the best thing to happen to anyone. Not indecent, or dirty as in greasy or muddy. See! That's how it has changed 'speak'. While development of language I think is a progressive thing, mutilating the basics is not. We no long speak as they did in biblical or roman times, and that's a good thing. We now swear more freely, and with little regard for the impact on the 'hearer' (listener), even on TV and radio. Is it language demise or progress? And as for Benny Hill, I used to think it was very funny, but when I see it now, I think it's still funny, but only because it's not politically correct and they're still showing it in defiance - and getting away with it.

They are also quick to forget how much Money Benny Hills program made. It must have been popular as it ran for a long time. Perhaps im a bit od but I used to enjoy Paul Hogans take on Aussie life.

Yes plenty of dangly bits there but for example take condom adverts no nude men there and they are a masculine thing. Not that I have need for them except for putting over banannas to give the "inspectors" at the fruit fly checking station something to talk about....

 

I'm not opposed to naked men Rolly, until I look at myself in the mirror. It all seems to change then. I couldn't imagine owning a painting with nude men. My wife would probably get jealous! Best sign I ever saw on a condom machine was........"Don't waste your money here, Worst Bubble Gum I ever tasted.
