Hi Jude: Were nubies too as we just hit the road a month ago for a year or 2. We have had a few teething problems in our 16.5" van like the gas pilot igniter not working so had to be cleaned, & fridge gas ignighter also so ditto on that. Now the brackets that hold the stabalizing extension bar extensions on the awning have corroded & snapped off so we are waiting to hit a major town to get some more. Also a minor accident with a loose soy sauce bottle which had our van smelling like a chinese takeaway for a few days while we found bits of sauce seeping from nooks & crannys below the cupboard & around the sink. I am a novice tower too so have had a couple of worring times but cheated a bit & have asked for drive through sites at the first few caravan parks we went too though we're now favouring the cheaper showground or nat park camping spots more & more. I did a lot of research on everything for ages & have bits of info on most things caravanning stored on my computer & what I may not haveis probably on one of the sites I have bookmarked, but I think I started to suffer from information overload after a while. Good luck with your preperations Jon

Don't worry, I have had my van for 6 mnths now and I have spent about 20K getting it ready for the big trip, I still have to master reversing it as yet, have you given that ago. I used to have a 18ft boat and I still can not master the van as yet, But good luck on your journey as I have found it very exciting and I have got about 3 mnths until I leave.

And welcome from me. Many "Greynomad forumites" have much more experience than me and will be able to pass on hints with the towing. Don't be afraid to ask questions and remember the only stupid questions are the ones that aren't asked.
