Anyone know of a website with a map of Townsville showing the new western bypass? It's yet to appear on Google maps

easy to find.traveling north just follow the highway past the army barracks and you can't miss it.stay in center lane.
traveling south plenty of signs,can't miss it.stay in center lane past first traffic lights   after going past new overpass to bushland beach.
only 2 exits off it so if you don't want to stop here you can't get lost.saves about 15min traveling time.

I came through there a couple of weeks ago and more by good luck than good management picked it up. I had to do a quick lane change thanks to poor signage and wasn't sure if I was on a new road or not until some distance after the "on ramp" that leads to the new section. I was unaware that there was even a new bypass in existence until I was on it. I have since met up with some fellow travellers (by prior arrangement) who had a similar experience. I was asking about a website (if one exists) so I can refer it to some other travellers who have asked me about. Your suggestion about staying in the right lane is a good one and I'll pass it on. Other forum members will appreciate your advice too.

Other GNs in the caravan parks I've been staying in have also remarked about the poor signage and the potential to create a dangerous situation. Given the multimillion dollars it takes to build a road such as this it's a pity the pointy heads who decide these things "spoil the ship for a penneth of tar" by not providing good safe clear signs.

Maybe someone should point out this pitfalls to the Department of Main Roads in Qld. They are supposed to be the "experts" but it seems they are not. So it's up to the humble motorists who actually use these roads to raise these issues in the name of future road safety. They whinge about the road toll - maybe it's bungles such as this which bring them about, in part anyway. Cheers Chris
