my Dad (86) and I (39) just bought a jayco motor home and are looking at doing some travelling around Australia in it, we have been to the uk many times and Us and I've been to Turkey, now we want  to do some aussie travelling.

I'm doing some net research on motorhoming etc and seing whats out there.

maybe we'll catch up with you on the road some where...

Caravaning in whatever type of RV you happen to have would have to be one of the best lifestyles you can have.

Any info or advice that you could ever want can usually be found somewhere in this forum and if not then there are plenty of us GN's only too able and willing to provide you with answers.

Hope you enjoy your travels and drive safely.  Remember Happiness is a voyage not a destination.

mate wish I had a son like you that would take me around with him, mines too damn busy making his first million to even say howdy to his ever suffering old dad! nevermind all my fault we raised him like that I guess!

And a welcome from me too Jason. I'd love to take my daughters with me for trips. They're home bodies, and their mother's a gypsy. You're a good son. You must have a good dad. I bought my caravan from Culburra Beach in 2006, and enjoyed my short stay in your town. I don't know if you need to join any club to travel this huge spacious country. Have a plan and keep it flexible. Between you and your dad have a bit of an idea of the places you want to travel to, pull out of the driveway and away you go. Make sure you are both familiar with your vehicle, if you're both going to drive. Do some homework on the roads and country through which you may be travelling. Google maps "terrain" will give you a really good idea of the country you may go through. Oz is a big country with a lot of dirt between the dots on the map. Don't drive too many hours in a day, park up and enjoy the towns and places you visit. Do lots of sightseeing. Thanks to the internet you can do a lot of homework before leaving home. Feel free to ask we Nomads lots of questions if you have them. I retired from the media in '96 and I still miss some aspects of it. Not a "jock" though, I was a journo - freelance, with the emphasis on "free". Safe travels. Cheers Chris
