Hi fellow GNs I am about to set off to nowhere in particular, except north to a warmer climate, up the coast to Qld. Question 1. Any MUST DO things I need to look out for. As soon as I find a half decent bookshop I will buy the Grey Nomads guide book. Question 2. (this is the grey moment.) After surfing this site and many other touring info sites, I saw a computer program for recording all details and cataloging Pictures. Now when I am ready to buy it, do you think I can remember the site/program.... sigh no . Anyone familiar with this software that could pass on some info? I would love to have it. Thanks Wal

Sounds like a good programme Wal. Hope you get the info you are after. I'm sure there are quite a few of us that would welcome a programme like that. I would for one. Ma

Well Wal, by the time you've stressed over all this stuff you'll really need a holiday.
My computer has My Pictures programme build in. It works great from me, I can email photos, edit photos and it's simple. That's the key. Keep it simple!
If you're coming up the Bruce just take your time and don't let the idiots get to you. The truckies are generally fair.
I don't know about the programme of which you speak. I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but surely any sort of diary in a journal or on the 'puter would do whatever you want it to do.
If you see it on the net you can copy and paste to a windows document.
All I can say it don't make life harder than it is. Just enjoy the trip. Take the pictures, and keep your memories the easiest way you know how.
If you're travelling with your partner the two of you will be recording your experiences, the scenery you share, the views you share, the sights you both see on the way. Keep it simple. Safe and happy travels, and if you get up as far as Cairns, call in and say g'day. I'll put the kettle on. Cheers Chris

G'Day Wal,
I have the same program as Ken and Marg and have found it to be very good and also user friendly. The price is $49-95 but money well worth spending. Has all that one needs when travelling to keep records.
I have to have the KISS method applied to anything I do and I think this program falls within this category.
Good luck and safe travelling.

I had no trouble with Ken's link either. Guru and I think its a good investment. Pays to know where the "hard earned" goes and if we need to cut back in certain areas should the need arise.

What an impressive little piece of software! After seeing it recommended in this thread, we bought and downloaded the program and will be using it on our next trip in October.
On previous trips, every time we stopped to fill the car with diesel, I would write down the litres, cost etc etc in a notebook and at a later date Neil would transfer the details to Excel on the laptop.
Can see it being very useful for what it can do (campsites, photos, expenses etc).
Thank you for posting the link.
Cheers
