We are in the process of purchasing a 21' Fulcher Caravan approx 2600kg when loaded, will be towed by 100 series Toyota Land Cruiser V8 Petrol 06 / 07. If someone has done similar could you please inform us if LPG is the go. What is the consumption of fuel on Petrol and LPG. All positive and negative comments appreciated. Thanks......Kay

have 200 model 6 cylinder prado on dual fuel. economy drops by about 15% on gas but no noticeable difference in power. would reccomend it to anyone especially when one can buy gas at less than 60% of the price of petrol.

This is a cut and paste from the LCOOL website that I wrote some time ago. I was terribly unhappy with that particular vehicle and couldn't wait to sell it.
"just sold an immaculate Landcruiser 4.5 litre petrol/gas 105R series, fitted with the manifold LPG system, and the best I could ever get on highway cycle (non towing) was 19.5 litres per 100 klms. This was achieved with no load, full tanks of petrol and LPG, and really driven carefully, at 80 to 90klm per hour.
With the 2.6 tonne loaded caravan connected, it ranged from 32 litres per 100 klms at best, to 44 litres at worst.
The reason I sold it was because it was gutless and really hard work when towing, and no amount of tinkering could make it pull harder, and even with petrol, it wouldn't pull the crust off a rice pudding."
I eventually purchased a 2006 turbo diesel Landcruiser which is not only super economical but has power to burn. If you prefer the LPG to diesel, I understand that the petrol V8 with the injected system is a far far better proposition than the 6 cyl petrol/lpg model we had. I reckon LPG is terrific in non towing situations, and as a former business owner with several LPG commercial vehicles, I loved the savings, but I wouldn't ever consider LPG for towing that size van no matter what vehicle it was fitted into, but that is only my individual opinion.

Hi Kay I have a Mitsubishi Challenger 3ltr. petrol to which I had lpg fitted. I tow a Golf Savannah van but I only use gas to tow the van when the road is flat and easy going. At the first sight of a hill I get onto petrol as I have found quite a noticeable decrease in power. Having said that its still the best extra I have purchased. Keith

have just recently done a trip 1200ks towing a 505 coromal with a 2007 falcon completely on gas.
averaged : 18.19lrt/100km averaged cost per km: 11 cents
tried to keep revs at 1500 max 2000.
on flat country was able to set cruise control on 100km/hr. hills would sometimes bring us back to 80km/hr.
the only problem with a 55ltr tank you are stopping every 250km. not a problem though if you have time on your side. a break every few hours is great
