Hi all, This is my first time on any website / forum. We are still planning the first trip and can't decide on the vehicle. We are thinking about a 3 litre diesel Prado, but want to make sure it can go off road. We plan to pull a Coromal Pioneer pop up. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
Cheers! Ray and Angie

Can't image a Prado not doing as you ask of it, the 3lt D sounds like a real goer . The tow weight is up around the 3000kg mark I believe but can be a little thirsty if you put the foot down.
I have just got a Nissan Pathfinder Turbo D but haven't had it long enough to give any real advice on it as a towing rig apart from it has heaps of grunt and top end speed if needed
If you haven't traveled off road before just take it easy and take advice form all sources . I'm sure there will be others with a lot of Off Road advice coming on board shortly

A Prado, not go off road??? like vegemite, not spreading on toast.
Both made for each other, if you like Prado's and or vegemite

a prado is only in it's "true" element off road, it's on the bitumen that it doesnt like and of course is not designed to like
you could not choose a better all round vehicle for towing and playing, buy with confidence
welcome to the forum, like me you are a forum virgin, this being the only one that I visit as well but enjoy your stay and enjoy your travels even more!!

Thanks for the advice. We plan to take in easy until we get the hang of off road driving, maybe do a course or two. We have been off road in the Kimberley's but only as a passenger. I am sure it is a lot different when you are the driver.

Thanks, love vegemite, will probably love a Prado too. Just trying to do the research before we buy.

Thanks. I can't wait to chuck the job and get going. Got 6 months or so, to get fitted out and have a few trial runs. There are so many decisions to make. Love this forum, everyone is so friendly.

Well. It has been a big week, finally decided on a vehicle and bought a Landcruiser. It is 3 yo 4.2 litre diesel with 46,000 K's on the clock. One big decision made. Need to do a few bits and pieces and learn how to get ourselves out of trouble in it. Woo hooo!
