Thanks for that: yes we have found that site, nothing much on there relevant to hubby as yet; we are on Sunshine Coast and he has been looking for over 4 weeks. For those others out there, make sure you have all the relevant cards, i.e., blue, green, white etc etc. Hopefully things may pick up soon. Cheers

There seems to be a wide range of jobs on Grey Nomad's home page in Help Wanted as well, all over Qld. If I was fitter and free to move on there are a couple I'd chase up myself, espeically the station jobs.
Are you looking for work within your trade, and are you keen to pick up anything?
Good luck with that. Cheers Chris

not your personal homepage, the grey nomads main welcome page
found here..................... http://www.thegreynomads.com.au/
go into the help wanted section and there you will find a veritable bevy of offers of positions
I have had a great deal of luck in simply ringing a station when i get near it or simply turning up and asking if there are any part time work available, never failed me yet!!

Hi Robcol,
I've been out of the workforce for awhile now, I was wondering what these cards are and what do you need them for ? Also, how do you go about getting them?
Thanks Berg

Would appear that there is a fair bit of doubling up of vacancies throughout the different sections, I seen the same job about 4 times in various sections.
Would be great if you didn't have to pay $25 to register! But I guess if you're smart you could gain enough info to contact the people direct :)

I hadnt really looked that closely at the ad and hadnt realised the doubling up but another site that I used to use quite a bit was this one
http://www.workaboutaustralia.com.au/bwWebsite/default.asp
it's not bad for contacts but I havent checked it out lately so i am not up with application charges (if any) or any payments

Thanks Dave for clearing that up. At least someone understands me.
I don't think anyone pays anything on the Grey Nomads home page jobs list. It's just for contact and info.
All that aside, if you're heading into a region with sesonal work, you may want to plan ahead as Dave does.
It's a matter of picking up the phone in most instances. The worse they can do is say no. Then again, you may get the job. Do some research and hunt around. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new. It's all part of the adventure.
Cheers Chris

Hi Berg , will try to answer your question. Hubby used to be collar and tie worker in human resources. Decided to move around plus work; first worked in potato factory, required OH&S ticket/card, which he obtained,; this is mandatory these days for lots of jobs; plus first aid course. To improve his chances then obtained a fork lift licence; that card wasn't recognised in WA so he re-did course there. Further to that he has done a traffic controller's course in Vic, which he has just discovered is not recognised here in Qld so he is updating that this week. Last year he worked for a winery during harvest season, and was required to obtain a "confined space" ticket, as he had to clean out wine tanks etc. So it seems the more cards you have the better!!!!! Regards, Colleen
