The Solo's has had some issue, and I think we should correct them. Is the Solo's thread needed - what do we need that is not accomplished in the main.
For me, I feel uncomfortable, on socialising with couples - the odd one out. I need to know there are others that wish to travel, and will do so on their own. I will confess to, thinking maybe there is someone I would enjoy my travels with, that are in the same situation - not a dating service - just common interest's.

Excellent Post Bob, it is a way of starting over. I had given up on the Solo Forum.
My name is Monica and I live on the North Coast. I have been single for 33 years and I am not looking to change that ... I love been single. Like Bob, I sometimes find it uncomfortable socialising with couples, I find the wives tend to keep a good eye on me as I am single. No need ladies, as I said, I love been alone. I like my own company, having been alone for so long, I sometimes find that I am overwhelmed in a large crowd. On the other hand it is not good to be isolated too much, as one loses the ability to communicate. Yes I like to flirt, I am not dead yet, but at the end of the day, I am relieved to get back to my own environment alone.
So, my name is Monica, I have two wonderful, supportive and caring sons, two beautiful daughter-in-laws and two terrific grandsons. I still have my heallth so I feel, I am a very lucky lady. I have just bought a small campervan so I am going to travel when I can, I also hope to cross paths with all of you in the future.

There are definately different challenges being a solo as this forum has shown. I have OFTEN had to be quite insistant that I am NOT looking to 'hook up', and this sometimes does lead to bad-mouthing. Mostly, people respect each other, and its not a problem.

I am a real newby here but I want just, like, clear the air. I am 33 and a widow. I was married for 10years and my man was killed in a workplace accident just over a year ago. Like when that happened I became so depressed. I think for some solos this is a good place to hang out. By the way Im not after a husband from here and if I want company I know where I can find it but like it finds me usually.
I read Basils post (he is a darling but he is a bit old and married - bugger) and I think what he was like trying to say is that the solos should be for solo things and not for technical stuff that should be in the main forum because if we discuss stuff in here that is not solo stuff then the guyz with the knowledge feel uncomfortable answering it in the solos. For me it, like, works best if I get a range of replies for as many as I can.
I am getting used to my own company, I dont have any children but like I am very broadminded and friendly and like I guess some people think that because Im upfront and friendly that I am some sort of wench. But like a couple of guyz apologized to me and hey like if I cant handle a bit of overt type banter then I wouldnt be here, would I?
I think the Solos is a good idea but us solos just have to remember there are other people in the forum who can help even if they are married, or like partnered or whatever. Why did the last sentence loose formatting?

This refers to ACTUAL incidences while travelling as a solo woman. Just trying to have a pub meal for instance. Most guys WILL respect you, but SOME can turn abusive. Its just something to be aware of.

Doesn't matter which way your Single / Solo....or depending on what your looking for. In here everyone is sharing knowledge, friendship, security and a sociable atmosphere which drew me into this Forum, and a thoroughly enjoyable amicable association with any and everyone. All I can honestly say is a big Thank You to everyone who participates and makes this forum a pleasure to be involved in.

Hi other 'Solos",
I am another real newbie solo and just appreciate that there are others out there who are on the same 'wave length'.
For me, this forum is giving me the encouragement to follow my dream, in spite of the fact that I am on my own, but know that I need not be alone or lonely.
I hope that when I hit the road, (sometime between now and New Year), that I meet you all and we share a common bond and maybe a glass of wine! We halve any problems by sharing them, encourage and help each other out when it is needed.
I also say 'thank you' for sharing on this forum.
