First lot of snow on Mt Roland on Tuesday 10th - melted by lunchtime. Blowing a gale from the West, 40 mls rain in last 4 days. Big swells in Bass Strait. Glad I'm not booked on The Spirit.

It's a lovely 24.7 here in Townsville at the moment.
Cold front across WA's south likely to 'pack a punch': BoM

We have been very lucky here in Townsville. Even though there was a big band of bad weather a little inland stretching from just above Townsville to down in Victoria we just got a sprinkle for about 10 mins in the early hours this morning but further south have had a battering by the sound of the news up here.
Currently it is high 20's with around 70% humidity and no sign of much wind or rain.

Here in Ballarat today we have had wind, drizzle and fog.. The temp has sat around 8.7 most of the day. It got to 9.3 for a brief moment mid arvo.
If it weren't for baby sitting and elderly parents we would be somewhere north of here!!!

212 mm (8 and a half inches) of rain from Sat. evening to Mon. morning. Power off 11 am Sun. to 11 am Mon. Phone and internet not working (even mobile). Water lapping at door into sunroom but didn't get in. Some roads washed a bit but not impassable. Sun shining all day Tuesday. Cloudy and mild today. Water got away quickly into subsoil once rain stopped. Chaos in other parts like Railton, Latrobe and around Launceston. 3/4 of a marina with attached boats broke off and lodged in Mersey River causing ferries to be unable to run. Shipping containers, big trees, livestock and wrapped hay bales floating down past the Spirit and out to sea. One farmer lost 200 dairy cows - poor b.....r !
Never a dull moment. ..... Val

Hi Val, hope all is well, and glad we were off the island by this event. All sounds a bit scary...
Now in the Flinders Ranges (SA) and hindered by the wet, many roads closed, have to stick to the bitumen, which is rather boring..

Just out of bed myself.
Hard night at State of Origin in my recliner lounge in front of the big screen last night! And the goodies won, of course ... I hardly yelled or swore at all. Must be getting used to winning.
It rained lightly here overnight, unusual for us in winter. If you can call 11 to 20 (current 18) winter.
I have completed the Van brake upgrade so I might take a run in the little Mazda 3 through the country via Rosewood to Laidley for lunch & home via part of the Esk valley. Afternoon tea at Wyvenhoe Dam perhaps. The Mazda is a nice vehicle to drive & with the overcast weather there might be a few wallabies about the place as we go cross country. I spent a lot of my mis-spent youth in the area as a Technician in Training so there are lots of memories there of country dances, Telephonists & Farmers Daughters.

Just home ..
Saw a few roos at Biggs Camp (Granchester) and had lunch at Laidley. Our favourite pub was closed down, The Telephone exchanges are all Automatic so no Telephonists & the Farmers' daughters are all using Zimmer frames. Manthy's boarding house is rapidly falling down & the most popular retail outlets in town are Opp shops. But the town is quite busy.
Afternoon tea at Lowood just as a bit of light rain started. So quickly home via Darren Lockyer highway.
Nice relaxing & economical driving with cruise control.
Now to re-watch last night's SOO game.
oh yes .. still 18 degrees here & a few spots of rain.
